Holland America Line Expands Presence of Alaska Tour Directors
Now Available on 22 CruiseTours
Seattle, October 26, 2004 – Starting in 2005, Holland America Line’s Alaska Tour Directors will travel on the entire land portion of 22 of the 28 Alaska CruiseTours offered, specifically Great Land Klondike CruiseTours 1-6, Great Land Wilderness CruiseTours 7-10 and Glacier Discovery CruiseTours 13-22, 27 and 28. In prior years, tour directors only traveled part of the Great Land itineraries and none of the Glacier Discovery itineraries. This expansion of tour director participation will help insure that Holland America Line cruisetours exceed the expectations of their summer guests.
Holland America Line’s tour directors receive consistently high ratings and are an important part of the guests’ overall experience on CruiseTours to Alaska and the Yukon. Tour Directors handle most travel details for the smooth operation of the tour. Should any issues come up, the Tour Director is the first person to step in to assist the guest. In addition, they work with Holland America’s driver/guides, railcar managers and other service providers to make each aspect of the tour enjoyable and memorable. One very important part of the assignment is to assist guests with optional excursion recommendations.
“The Tour Director has a personal responsibility for the satisfaction of each guest. First they reduce travel worries to a minimum. Then, they make sure the guests have the best opportunities to experience the Alaska they imagined they would,” said Paul Allen, vice president of Alaska marketing and sales. “We want them to jump in and have the adventure of a lifetime, from heli-hiking to historical walking tours and fishing to jeep tours. Holland America Line has something to interest everyone. ”
This expansion of Tour Directors on many cruisetour routes is just one example of how Holland America Line strives to assure high guest satisfaction. To really appreciate Alaska, many CruiseTours also offer two nights in some of Holland America Line’s favorite destinations, Dawson City, Whitehorse, Fairbanks and Denali National Park. With the luxury of extra time, guests have more opportunities to explore the unique beauty and history of Alaska and the Yukon Territory.
Denali and Kluane National Parks and the Addition of Tombstone Territorial Park
Holland America Line CruiseTours feature more National Parks than most other cruisetour programs. 17 “Double Denali” cruisetours have extended stays at Denali National Park. Four itineraries are returning to the crown jewel of Canada’s wilderness national parks – Kluane National Park. New highlights for 2005 are excursions to unique and remote Tombstone Territorial Park located near Dawson City in the Yukon. Guests will experience an exclusive program of optional activities, including flightseeing, van tours and a variety of hikes, with Park interpreters. With 134 Alaskan cruises and cruisetours offered on seven premium ships, there are excellent choices to choose from.
