Default Ship time V Falmouth time

We arrive at 10am on the Allure out of Fort Lauderdale. Being British I'm not sure of the time zones. Is 10am ship time the same as 10am Falmouth time or is there an hour difference? We're meeting a tour guide at the dock and I want to make sure my times are right!

We were just in Falmouth last week, and the time is the same as the ship. The only time we changed time was when we were in Cozumel and Costa Maya.

When are you traveling? Jamaica is in the same time zone as the eastern US but doesn't observe daylight saving time (our equivalent to BST). Therefore there will be a 1hr time difference between the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November, but no difference the rest of the year.

Thanks for the replies folks. We dock at 10am on July 17 this year. We've booked a private tour guide who tells us that we'll be picked up at the pier one hour after the ship docks. If the time is the same I know pick up will be at 11am but if there IS a difference I need to know what time I'm working on!

It's at the captain's discretion whether ship's time is kept on EDT (Eastern Daylight Time, same as Florida) during summer cruises or shifted to EST (Eastern Standard Time). 11am on July 17th Jamaica time is noon Florida time.

So when we're docking in Falmouth it would be best to check with Guest Relations if the ship time is the same as local time? I don't want to turn up for our tour guide at the pier and find we're either an hour too early or an hour too late!

Simplify your life. Use your phone or a watch with multiple time zones, check the time in Jamaica on the internet before you leave, and set it in. Do that for any other ports also. Then when you get there you can look and you'll know.

for example iphone world clock lets you set multiple clocks, if you set up while on internet it's automatic, just put in location. It then saves that time even when out of internet.

Confession: I've already set mine. how lame is that? It's 6:30 pm there now (Jamaica.)

Genius idea, DrD!

Since we are making confessions, my iPod has been set to give me the time and weather for all my favorite places. When there is a trip in the works, I love to follow the weather of our destination(s) before we go. Conversely, I can torture myself a bit when we come home - LOL.
