Going On the Liberty!

Recommended Posts

We cruise on the Liberty out of PC tomorrow on the Southern itinerary. Anyone have any questions/requests? I will do my best to answer! I'll check this thread before we board tomorrow to see what everyone wants to know. I will not be scanning FunTimes when I return, but I may try my hand at a review.

I'm on that itinerary in August. I'd be interested in your feeling about how the time in port in Aruba and Curacao works out. Those times (on our sailing anyway) seem a little odd to me. Have a wonderful time. :)

Oh yes I have one please! Could you get a copy of the Circle C schedule and post it please? We leave July 6th with our 14 year old and I am curious what they will be doing.

OK, I think I can do all those for you guys. Not sure about the Circle C schedule posting as I don't have a scanner but I can give you an idea of the activities. :) Any other requests?

Ill be on that itinerary in June/July. Anything on the new MDR setup (menu/tables etc) would be nice

if you are on the June 28 sailing, we just booked.

My questions.to the original posters would be:

I read where some say hat the New American Table is very good. then some say O.K. and then some say very bad. I would love to get your honest opinion.

Do they have the old type shows, with singers and dancers, or the New Shows with a few singers and dancers and a lot of electronic background? What are the shows?

Does the Liberty have the Italian Restaurant?

it is sweet of you to let us ask questions before you go, and I hope you have a wonderful cruise.

AND Most Important......do they do the Chocolate Buffet the afternoon of the Last Sea Day?

You could just take a picture of it. You don't have to have a scanner.

July 28 cruise for us as well. I'm curious about curaçao . The port time is 2-10 pm. I'm not booking any excursions, just planning to walk around town till the shops close. Would like to know what happens after everything closes around 6?

Just got off in Miami last Saturday... ask away

Do you know if they have gluten free buns at Guy's? One DD is gluten free and I'm trying to find out if I need to bring my own buns. I've heard two different versions so curious from someone recent.

Also, did they have any of the great desserts that were supposed to go back on the menu like Creme brûlée and grand mariner soufflé?

We enjoyed the American Table; it was just the two of us at our table.

Old time shows with singers, dancers AND A FULL ORCHESTRA playing in a Pit!

No Italian Restaurant on The Liberty

I did not see a chocolate buffet, but it was a 5 day itinerary, not a 7

Thank You! I am really happy to hear that they have the old shows. And I always enjoyed seeing the orchestra rise from the floor and then go back. I am glad that you enjoyed the American Table. I re read the menu, and it seems OK. I notice they have a green salad a lot of nights, and I like that. I like your side dishes being served separate from the entrée.

It is very nice of you to take the time to answer our questions. And you just made me very happy.. with the shows information. And I don't even care what they are about. I have never seen a bad one.

All right everyone, we are back! I did my best to find answers to everyone's questions, however, I did not see a Circle C schedule anywhere...sorry to the poster who asked for that. I went by a few times and didn't see anything posted anywhere. I will say that on this cruise I saw hardly any kids, so maybe that had something to do with it?

Ok, to the poster who asked about ping pong tables: I saw 3, all outdoors. One I remember was by the water slide entrance, and I also noticed that twice during the 8 day cruise they had a ping pong tournament. Maybe your son will enjoy entering and winning? :)

To the poster who asked about the Italian restaurant, the Liberty doesn't have one. She does, however, have a Fish N Chips restaurant upstairs, and it seemed pretty deserted the first day or so, and then became VERY popular, so it must be good!

The shows onboard are the old style, with the full orchastra, and the ones we saw were great! The shows were: Let It Rock (or maybe it was called Just Rock? We didn't see this one), Singin' With the Big Band (also didn't see), Courtney and the Liberty Band (it was a concert they did one night and it was GREAT!), It's a Wonderful World (again, a GREAT show!!!!). They also had a ventriliquist one night who was quite good, and the Carnival Legends show, which we did not watch. I have to say, after being on the Breeze and then the Liberty, I MUCH prefer the old style shows!

To the poster who was curious about the port times in Aruba and Curacao: we were in Aruba from 1 until 10, which I loved. It was great to get to see the nightlife in port, and enjoy a nice dinner off the ship. We thoroughly enjoyed it. However, it made it VERY hard to get up the next morining at 7 a.m. for an 8 o'clock arrival in Curacao! We managed though.

To the poster who asked about the MDR food quality and the tables, the tables still had a tablecloth each night. As for the food quality, I found it just OK. I really didn't think I would care, however, after experiencing the menus firsthand I really wasn't impressed, and neither was my husband. I am really not a picky eater, but some nights I had to search to find something I wanted. The food itself was always warm and presented nicely. To anyone on Anytime Dining, Gideon and his team are FANTASTIC and you should ask for him. They were very attentive and quick to bring anything we needed or asked for. I did see Bitter and Blanc on the menu one night, as well as the Grand Mariner dessert.

To the poster curious about the Chocolate Extravaganza, yes they did have it the last sea day of the cruise. I am a chocolate lover, but I was happy enough to skip it, I didn't see anything that really appealed to me.

All in all, the Liberty is a really fantastic ship and I plan to do a review of her once we get settled back in. The service was top notch, from the room stewards to the dining staff to Guest Services. The ship itself is in good shape, maybe a light bulb or two blown here or there, but the staff are working hard to keep her looking good, they were always out cleaning and touching her up. The decor is grogeous, and we had a great time. I would absolutly sail on her again in a heartbeat!

Downtown Aruba is right outside the cruise terminal, it was great for shopping and exploring!

I am in the process of doing a review titled Liberty May 9 Southern Review that gives details on the menus and shows. I will say I MUCH prefer the old style shows to the new shows, and Liberty has the old ones. They were great! American Table was OK but I wasn't impressed overall. Enjoy your cruise!

Got a $50 pack and go package which is a free cruise except for taxes and port charges. leaving 8/9/2014. Can't wait. Have looked at this itinerary for awhile since it's leaving from PC. Just couldn't convince myself to book at casino rate. Couldn't believe I got this offer. Now I can take my two 16 year old grandchildren. My sister got the same offer so we have two rooms and kids can have room of their own. So excited. Never been to Aruba or Curacao and really like Grand Turk. Anyone else going at the same time?
