Replacement for the Monarch

Recommended Posts

With pullmutar officially announcing Monarch being added to its fleet, it's time to start the speculation. Will RCCL be keeping a 3-4 night ship in Port Canaveral????? And if so what will be replacing her? Ready set go!!!!!

I would have guessed that they would have kept Monarch until the Project Sunshine ships enter service; then one of those would bump another ship, which would in turn bump another one . . . and so on down the line, until finally, a Vision class ship takes over the Port Canaveral - Bahamas route.

We just cruised on the monarch, it was great! I love that ship! On the way into the port our shuttle driver told us that monarch was staying and freedom is going to New York and that allure will be replacing freedom. I didn't know if I should believe him but I'll pass along the gossip!:D

Three Options:

Option A) No replacement, although I believe this is highly unlikely.

Option B) Majesty moves up from Miami to PC, thus allowing RCL to place a larger ship in the 3/4 night market. Maybe a Radiance Class?

Option C) Vision Class Ship replaces Monarch.

Remember that it is rumored that Jewel is NOT going to Europe next year, so maybe she will be a temporary replacement?

I like the last one:) I would also like to see some itinerary changes, something like the Majesty does with a key west stop:)

Vision is going back to Europe, Rhapsody to Alaska, & Legend/Splendour will probably be in Asia and Europe respectively. That leaves us Grandeur & Enchantment.

Maybe we will see some significant movement of ships to new home ports

Coming from a shuttle driver it is just that, Gossip. Monarch is likely going away but IMHO I doubt that Freedom is going anywhere and IMHO Oasis/Allure will be staying in Ft. Lauderdale.

Grandeur seems like a more likely candidate IMHO.

Leave Jewel sailing from Tampa. I think she's perfect in that market... :)

We'll be on her for the first time in May. Actually she's our first for everything as this is our first cruise. Don't think we'll be able to get back in her before she goes away, but I'm glad we get to experience her at least once.

I vote for Option C:D

Or either the Indy or Liberty doing shorter cruises!!!

And Cozumel and Key West instead of the Bahamas. I imagine people at RCL must know the answer and are keeping a tight lip on it!!! Someone must know the answer

According to the deployment schedule, the answer should come the week of 4/24.

BTW, RCI only committed to berth Monarch in PC until April 24, 2012 when they signed their contract last fall. So someone has known the answer for at least six months. (About the same time the Korean rumor broke.):D:D:D

Do you guys think there will be a transatlantic on the Monarch?

Probably not. My guess is she will go to Freeport for her re-fit, and will become a Pullmantur ship when she's done. She might not even leave the Caribbean when she is converted.
