Fascination 9/10/04 Guest Review

My husband and I just came home today from a wonderful weekend trip to Nassau aboard the Fascination. The embarkation process was speedy and well organized.

A buffet luncheon awaited us at the Coconut Grove Bar And Grill. Our waiter in the Imagination Dining Room was I. Gusti from Romania. Although his accent was a bit difficult to understand, he made sure our drink orders were taken and also suggested menu items to try. The Maitre'D was Presler Moreau, a very nice Haitian gentleman who was happy to change my table assignment (we were seated one evening with a senior citizen couple and had wanted to meet someone closer to us in age). On Sunday morning, we were pleasantly surprised to see our dinner waiter clearing tables on Lido Deck - he told me that he worked Breakfasts there and Lunches/Dinners in the dining room.

Saturday morning, we took a taxi from the pier to Atlantis - and wound up being overcharged for our fare. We arrived at the resort to find beautifully landscaped grounds, a marina, a casino, and several fine dining restaurants. We then hopped on a bus which for only $1.00 each way ($2.00 per person round trip) took us on a scenic drive through a colorful neighborhood. (A word of caution, the buses all stop running early - around 5:30 PM) You MUST know where you want to go in order to know which bus to catch).

Saturday afternoon, we walked around in the tourist district, sipped iced coffee from a local cafe, and posed for pictures outside of Senor Frog's.

Saturday night was formal night, with "Delices Of The Ocean" as the main course. An EXCELLENT dinner!

There were plenty of activities to partake of on the "Fun Day At Sea" - The Sun Deck permits topless sunbathing and is restricted to guests 18 and over. After working on my tan, I was able to spend time in the sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. My only complaint was that the water temperature could have been hotter. Unfortunately, the spa employees had no control of the thermostat, and the ship's engineer did not respond to his page.

Debarkation ran smoothly with the exception of a late start - we were advised that it would start promptly at 7:15 - 7:25 was more like it!

One more thing I want to mention - the Big Screen TVs near the Beverly Hills Bar are in a state of disrepair. The guys (who were buying plenty of beer) couldn't get a decent picture or sound to watch the Dolphins' season opeinhg game.

If you want a fun cruise for all ages, this is it!
