Sea Day – 18 November 2004

My BF is still feeling crappy but is in much better shape now that he is keeping the Gatorade down. To make sure he is ready for regular food I take him down to Café Promenade and feed him PIZZA!! If he can keep that down then he is ready to eat real food!

Tonight is formal night so we get to play dress up again!! My BF had bought us a lapel flower which were made of a single rose bud and had to have my bestfreind’s mom pin them on us or we would have been back down at the medical center BLEEDING TO DEATH! LOL! In addition to the rose we also had a Martini Glass lapel pin. The martini glass is synonymous with the Martian Yacht club and is a phrase we coined on our last cruise last year on the VOS. We drank too many COSMOS and so we started calling them MARTIANS! J Anyway, we went to dinner and a little afraid that someone would remember my other half had yakked near their table!

After dinner we took a few pictures out by the atrium. We asked our friend Dee to take our picture in our tuxes so we posed on the stares outside the dining room. Some bozo decided to be funny and yelled. “You guys make a cute couple” and I replied “why thank you!” You should have seen his face when he figured out that WE WERE A COUPLE!!! The after dinner show was “Two Funny Guys”! They were really funny and I can honestly say that they were the best show all week!! The two brothers play well off each other sort of like Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis by having one “straight man” and the “fall guy” to set up the jokes etc! If you see them I hope they do the “opening” for you! Two thumbs up from me! After losing some more money in the casino we headed to bed

St Maarten – 19 November 2004

Ahh!! The sound of rain on the window is so nice to wake up to – isn’t it?!! Well that is unless you are on a cruise!! UGH! We woke to the sound of rain – again. Since the weather wasn’t cooperating, I called and cancelled our room service delivery and we all went down to the dining room from breakfast. We at least got to have eggs benedict! At breakfast we all discussed what we were going to do and it came down to enduring the rain, catch the water taxi to town and do some shopping.

St Maarten looks like a hurricane had gone through it!! Well didn’t one? Anyway, the streets of St Maarten are a mess!! They are paving and digging and planting trees and cobblestones – EVERYWHERE! The gang had converged on some jewelry store and I saw several folks spending some big cash and buying some really nice jewelry. Our new friend Nick had really hooked the gang up with some good deals and they were all making sure they were getting their jewelry sized etc. Dee’s dad sure found that couch comfortable! The sun peeked out a few times but that is all we ever saw of it!

Ron and I headed back to the ship to enjoy the peacefulness that is a pot day! We basically had the run of the pool and the gym so we took a nap! Yep a big old two hour middle of the day naps! We woke ourselves up and headed to the gym to work off some of the food we had been enjoying this week. Well, Ron didn’t need to work so hard because he probably lost about ten pounds the other night in every single trash can between decks nine and deck one where the infirmary is located!

We hung out up on deck eleven just outside the ship shape center to watch us leave port. The sun was actually peeking out enough to give us a really good sunset so I snapped a few pictures. After admiring the sunset it was time to get dressed so we could catch “Cant Stop the Rock”. Well I am probably going to get beaten to death about what I am about to say next – I hated that show! The cruise director actually came out before the show started and went into this big old story of how this was the most intense and difficult show that has ever been performed on a RCCL ship. I got news for you, I have seen second grade Christmas shows with more intensity and showmanship. Who the heck are they kidding? That show as a piece of crap and the volume was turned up even louder than it was during “Velvet Rope”! I gotta ask this too, since when did every single female singer turn into Britney Spears? Every single song sounded the same and the dance work was dreadful. They should change the name of that show to “PLEASE stop the Rock”!! Or even better: “Throw Rocks and Stop this dreadful show!”

Dinner was pretty good and Ron didn’t throw it up so we went to the casino afterwards so I could make my nightly deposit. Had a few drinks and even a coffee at Café Promenade and went to bed. PLEASE DON’T LET IT RAIN TOMMOROW!!!!!

Alex - the doctor did blood work on Ron and found that he did not have any viral infection. They took 4 tubes of blood and did a bunch of tests as well as made me fill out a sheet that detailed everything and where we ate and what sort of stuff we did every day for a week. Pretty darned detail but they said it was because the cruise line and board of health makes them do that stuff now for all GI problems reported onboard. I guess that is an out fall from the Walker virus stuff in the past. Also I am certain that it was food poisoning now because they would have quarantined every single person in our group!

Please write a review when you get back and I am looking forward to hearing how your cruise went and have a great cruise

Interesting, I was on the Star Princess when the ship came back loaded with Norwalk Virus, I always wondered how they knew, now I know thanks! I didn't know a simple blood test does the trick!

Yes, I will be glad to write a review I don't think I can match you talent, but will pick up on the high points.
