Bermuda vs Bahamas for diving?

We have to change our Feb cruise next year and need to leave out of NY for personal reasons.

My husband dove a few weeks ago in Nassau and said it was nice (nothing like Belize, Roatan).

Since April-June will mean Bahamas again or Bermuda which would have more varied sea life ???

Thanks:)

Hello..... Anyone???

I can't speak for either but I dove off Jaimaca in Ocho Rios and there was a pretty cool shipwreck there which was awesome for me.

I love Bermuda diving because of numerous shallow wrecks. Lots of bottom time in clear water. If wrecks are of interest, you can't beat Bermuda.

A technical reply to OP's original question:

Given that Bermuda fits inside 21 square miles and is usually described as one island altho there are actually many - it is very small as compared to the Bahamas which comprises over 2000 islands and 'cays' over 100,000 square miles. It is probably fare to guess that the Bahamas would host a larger variety of sea life.

Many when they hear Bahamas, especially cruisers, think Nassau and maybe Freeport; but there are MANY more dive locations. I been to Nassau and Freeport for diving, several times each; and also Green Turtle Cay, Cay Sal Bank, Abaco, Bimini - there's a ton out there.

But maybe that's a down side for you .. ALL the Berduma sites are inside that 21 miles!

I note that Frommers top 10 dive sites in Bermuda has wrecks at 1 thru 7 ...

To me - they both offer good diving ... but different. What's your pleasure?
