Usually in April the weather is great - not too hot and not too cold. It is a perfect time for Brisbane and Cairns where it is hot and humid in the middle of summer. Sydney and Newcastle will also be good in April. This is not the wet season for any of these areas, but there can be some rain at any time.
Have a great trip.

Here is a good site for checking weather from all around the world. Helps me a lot when planning.

April is the beginning of Autumm in the southern hemisphere. Mid 20C in Sydney/Newcastle. Brisbane will be mid to high 20's. Cairns is located in our tropics - so tropical weather but drier than Jan/Feb. Temps around 30C with balmy nights.
