Longbeach CA hotel

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm thinking of doing a cruise out of LA for the first time ever in April 2016. Only been to orange county once on my companies dime. Little nervous on a decent hotel to stay at. I saw someone talk about the best western gold sails. It seems fairly cheap for LA standards I guess. Just wondering if anyone stayed there and if it was ok. Was it within walking distance of places to eat and see. Any other hotels anyone could recommend that are under $200? Thanks.

The Golden Sails is a bit away from the tourist area of Long Beach.

Do a thread search. Bruin Steve has a good short list of hotels in Long Beach. The old Queen Mary and the Maya are the closest to the Carnival pier. The free Passport bus stops at these hotels, a few others, the Aquarium of the Pacific and Walmart.

All other cruise lines start out of San Pedro.

Near the aquarium are many restaurants.

Not sure on current prices, but I'd start with the Hyatt Pike, Hyatt Regency and Westin. TripAdvisor has pretty good pricing tools.

If they are too much, the Hotel Maya is great as is the Hotel Queen Mary. There is a shuttle that runs from the Maya and QM to Downtown Long Beach (three minutes?).

There is a lot to see in DTLB, The Pike and Rainbow Harbor area.
