The Sapphire is going into drydock just after the New Year's cruise to Mexico. It will be getting most of the changes the Grand got including the Sanctuary, MUTS, the International Cafe, the Crown Grill, and expansion of the main dining room. It will not be getting the Window Suites.

Says "Deck plans are for Diamond Princess only. Deck plans for Sapphire Princess may vary."

For example, no International Cafe shown.

Hmmmm.... I could swear that I thought it was for the Sapphire. Did they remove the Wake View Bar from the Diamond Princess also??

You are correct. I was looking in the wrong year. Plans are for the modified Sapphire.

Wake View Bar still on the Diamond. Oddly enough, that is where they held the "Dr. Bob & Bill W" meetings

I apologize for this question not being related to the Sapphire, but what is the Dr. Bob and Bill W meetings? I see them all the time on different cruises I take with Princess.

And it won't be getting Alfredo's pizzeria either.

I see a pizzeria added on Plaza deck 5 on the Sapphire deck plans in the current cruise atlas.

Will the Sapphire have "Vines" after the retrofit? That was a favorite hangout on the Emerald earlier this year. We will sail on the Sapphire Feb. 4, 2012.

Yes, the deck plans in the current cruise atlas shows Vines on deck 5.

This is from the first post of a thread I started on June 3.

I just received the 2012-2013 Cruise Atlas in the mail today and for the first time the deck plans of all Princess ships are shown. I saw a Sanctuary on the Sapphire which will be added during her January drydock, so I looked more closely. It appears that Princess has included the post drydock deck plans for the Sapphire. If accurate, this is apparently much of what will be done during her drydock.

  • A new pizzeria (Alfredo’s?) will occupy the current Circle Desk and Library area and a new Vines Wine Bar will occupy the current Writing Room and Future Cruise Sales area. This will be similar to the new arrangement on the Grand.
  • The Circle Desk, Future Cruise Sales and Library will occupy what was part of the Casino on the starboard side of the elevators and stairway across from the current Arcade.
  • The new International Café will occupy the Shore Excursions Desk area. It appears that the Lobby Bar area will be essentially unchanged as on the Star, Caribbean and Golden rather than the new reworked area on the Grand.
  • The Shore Excursions Desk will occupy the current Arcade area. The Arcade appears to be gone for good.
  • The Savoy Dining Room will be combined with the Vivaldi Dining Room and a portion of the old Savoy Dining Room along the windows will be converted into the new Crown Grill.
  • The Wake Bar is no more to make room for an expansion of the International Dining Room to compensate for the seating lost in the portion of the old Savoy Dining Room turned into the Crown Grill.
  • The Internet Café is being reduced in size and Sabatini’s will expand along the windows on the port side.
  • No Window Suites or Tea Library.

The Grand is the only ship to have Skywalkers removed. The Sapphire is not not is it getting One5. :)

You can Wikipedia for a better explanation but essentially, they are AA meetings.

You are on the first cruise after drydock. Hopefully they have allowed enough time to complete all of work, unlike the Grand. The main unfinished areas on the Grand were the Window Suites and the One5 and that work is not part of the Sapphire drydock work.

The Sapphire is supposed to go into dry dock January 7-February 4, 2012. Hope this is enough time to get all the things they have planned completed. Do you think they will do a

You Tube presentation like they did for the Grand?

Sorry folks, I spoke what I thought was fact. After checking the Atlas I do see a pizzeria scheduled for the Sapphire. Evidentally Vines is moving and will become the same as the Grand; smaller.
Pia, Sapphire doesn't have Vines now so there is nothing to move. Diamond will probably have the same mods during her next drydock. Because there is already a Vines on the other Grand Class ships it is quite possible that the Pizzeria will only be on the Grand, Sapphire, Diamond and presumably the Royal and her yet to be named sister.

I see no reason why they would not do a YouTube presentation.

The dates for Sapphire's drydock are good for me. I am thinknig abouto the Wine Country Coastal cruise on May 11, 2013 (Los Angeles to Vancouver 7 days) and was disappointed when I saw the ship has no International Cafe, Crown Grill, etc. Now this gives me one more reason to want that itinerary.
