Can You Still Win A Cruise Onboard Royal Caribbean?

Recommended Posts

Does Royal Caribbean do what other cruise lines do, which is hold a contest to win a free cruise, or in the casino, I remember those push coin games had a chip inside, and if you pushed down the chip along with your quarters, you would redeem your chip for a free cruise! I even think some slot machines had if you got a specific winning pattern like 777 instead of getting money, you'd win a cruise! Anyone know if theirs anything like this on Royal Caribbean?

You can win one playing Bingo. I've never seen anything in the casino like that. They have other games there including a lottery and tournaments as well as a couple of large jackpots, but never what you're describing. I may be wrong as we don't spend that much time in there and typically only play nickel slots.

haha I know the old folk in our group plans on playing onboard bingo...Ok wow I hope they have a slot or something to win a cruise like Carnival did, but on Celebrity I think it was, that's the cruise line that had the push coin chip, the chip was so far back on the stack of quarters it would of taken months to push it an inch forward haha, RCCL and Celebrity are the same company, so who knows, they might have it!

They often have a slot tournament at some point that offers a cruise as the top prize. I got second place in that tournament.

Cool, ill do a slot tourny! What did you win for 2nd place?

I got about $90. Quite a difference from the first place prize.

Of course, the free cruise was a particular sailing where they were going to have a big slot tournament. The prize includes entry into that slot tournament as well. If one's schedule isn't sufficiently flexible, then this prize may not have as much value as it would seem.

My first cruise was won by my grandmother, NJ Lottery Caribbean Stud Poker $3 Instant Lottery Ticket, it included a 7 day cruise on 1 of 3 Carnival ships, we chose the Carnival Sensation, included airfare to Tampa, FL, Airport pick up and drop off, and $500 onboard credit which lasted 2 days...I think Royal Caribbean and the NJ Lottery had a thing going on where you can win a 3 night cruise for playing the same lottery ticket, it's getting close to Spring/Summer so i'm keeping an eye out for that lottery ticket to appear.

I was in a similar tournament recently. Made it into the top 10. Started out well on last round. Thought I could really win it and then was bummed to loose. Second place must have hurt.

Keep in mind that before you enter any of these tournaments, you should first check to see if you can even make the sailing they are giving away. Can't transfer to anyone. Also keep in mind that the prize is a low category room (inside?), and does not cover port taxes and fees. By the time you pay for that and possibly pay for a room upgrade, cruise isn't as free as you thought.

Having said that, if the sailing works for you, well then....good luck!:):):)

Yeah inside statroom sounds about right haha, my grandmother tho, when she won, got a Oceanview! Now i'm sure if they do the same instant ticket, ittle be inside, because I do remember a few years ago, it changed from NJ Lottery and Carnival, to NJ Lottery and Royal Caribbean, and it was only for 3 nights, and I didn't even bother buying many tickets because 3 night cruises go so fast! But i'll buy a few if it comes out again this year :) I'm in the cruising spirit! And I can probably take off from work at anytime, considering I don't have a good job like I used to that shut down because of the economy 3 years ago...

Very well said!

I got a "complimentary" NCL cruise from my local casino here in Pittsburgh. The cruise ended up having a price of about $500 after taxes and fees. I decided not to go on that cruise and instead am sailing with Royal Caribbean again.

Inside Staterooms aren't bad, my cousin and I did it for our 3 or 4 night from NYC to Halifax NS on Carnival Triumph many years ago, the room was big enough for both of us, LOL and we got a FREE UPGRADE upon checking in at the port, from an inside stateroom on a low deck, to an inside stateroom on Empress Deck...

I won the slot tournament on the Enchantment last month and received the free cruise! Casino has to have at least 75 folks enter in order to give away the free cruise.

Cruise in on the Liberty December 3rd out of Ft. Lauderdale, cabin is an oceanview which you can upgrade. So yes, we have to fly out (using southwest free flights) and pay a few hundred for the upgrade and taxes, but sure beats paying for the entire cruise.

And oh yeah, a free entry into the big tournament, total cash prizes 100K.

Friends of mine are big "Texas Hold'em Poker" players and have actually won two separate tournaments which entitled them to a free cruise each time. Once on board the Liberty of the Seas and the last one on board the Allure. Lucky them!!!:D

Haven't been on RCL since 2003 & 2006, but both times the last bingo day they had a grand prize. Whoever was the 1st person to fill their entire bingo board won a free cruise. Both times almost the whole ship attended the game.

But that was years ago, does anyone know if they still do it?

There was a win-a-cruise bingo game on Mariner a couple of months ago. The reason I remember was because I couldn't help but think what a huge profit the cruiseline must have made off that deal. The game was played in the theatre immediately before a headliner show, the room was packed, and I'm sure at least half the audience bought one or more cards as they walked in. I'll bet that, in card sales for that one game, they raked in double the going price for an inside cabin on a ship that was already sailing anyway!

I won a free 7 night caribbean cruise for 2 on Adventure of the Seas this past February at Bingo. You had to be first and only one to get a X on your card. I was already booked for Allure for 2013 so I am waiting to get a confirmation on my selected date so I can cancel that. You have one year to take the cruise and it's for a inside or ocean view stateroom on any ship sailing from Port Canaveral, Ft Lauderdale, Miami or San Juan. The free cruise will be worth about $1900 toward a JS on Allure once we upgrade about half off so that's not too bad. We could do a upgrade to a balcony for just $160pp. I'm patiently waiting for my confirmation.;) I've only played bingo on cruises never anywhere else.

Wow, that's AWESOME! I won mine on the Feb 6th cruise and they still don't have confirmation. Called them today and they are going to email the ship for confirmation, try that.

hmmm I like what they did in 2004 better. We were on a 4 day out of Cape Canaveral and I won the final bingo (blackout) and instead of a cruise, it was over $3300. That more than covered what we had spent for a week for the 4 of us (air, cruise, Cocoa Beach few days pre cruise and few days post cruise).

Show me the MONEY!

I think it's done differently by ship. It seems I remember on Oasis they had $2000 and $3000 bingos. Money would be great but I'm not complaining.
