Departing for Marco Polo Airport in Venice

Okay here's the deal. My Carnival cruise finishes in Venice on Sunday. Researched everything through and have booked a 10:30 AM flight out of Marco Polo. Seemed a piece of cake. Walk off at 6 to 6:30 AM, take the tram to the main square (Piazza Roma or whatever it is) and take the airport bus. Plenty of time but then in doing further research lo and behold the tram doesn't start till 8 AM on Sunday.

What's the alternate plan (cab to Piazza Roma?).......

You can easily walk it. The tram is not a long ride at all. It just cuts straight across to the square. We just hauled our luggege to the square last time because the line for the tram was very long. If you are able, then it is really not that big of a deal.

I would think you should still be able to walk from the cruise port to Piazza Roma. It might take a little bit longer than the people mover, but probably the easiest and cheapest option. I don't know what they'd have for taxis or vaporettos in that area.

What was the price of the cab? Do they stop at ship side?

Take a cab from the cruise port to Mestre (20 Euro for 2 people plus luggage) and then take the ATVO bus from Mestre to the airport (11 Euro for 2 people)

Or just take a cab the entire way....40 Euros (or so?)

Yeah, I think it was around 40 euro, but not certain. And yes, they picked us up right next to the ship. There were actually people there the night before to do reservations for us. (We had an overnight there)
