Suggestions on Hotels in Miami pre-cruise

We will have to fly into Miami the day before we cruise and will need a decent Hotel room. We would like to be near the beach if possible. We don't want to rent a car so if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Oh and we have never been to Miami...Thanks
