BarbieJoe, were there LGBT gatherings during the cruise on The Ruby?

Hi Mike

Yes they had them but they were a bit of a dud. The two other couples we met in Dominica gave us the best laughs. But that was about it...

Hey Andrew I wrote you a note half way down but your review seems a little off somehow did you like the buffets and when we were on the Emerald we ate 3 nights in Micheal dining room and it was fantastic and hoping for the same on the ruby in April you make it sound very very bad though !! mmm

Thanks Andrew.

Typical, as it varies widely by ship.

Hi Tim

Compared to the Island Princess, the buffets on the Ruby were outstanding. Always a great selection.

And compared to the Island Princess, the food in the MD on the Ruby ranged from mediocre to bad. But food is very subjective. This is our take based upon our previous cruises (some of which aren't listed in my signature line).

Please keep an open mind. Maybe you'll share our views and maybe you won't. We all have different tastes.

Some folks are just very hard to please.

We also were on this cruise. 2nd time on the Ruby Princess.

We were also disappointed in the service in the Dinging room. My Brother in law gave the Maitre $100. He had wonderful service and a table anytime he wanted. When we ate with him, the service was TERIFFIC. The other times, when we ate on our own, the service was SLOW. If a person doesn't wants to spend 2 1/2 -3 hours to eat, then go to the Caribe Cafe. If you want a dining experience, then go tothe Crown Grill or Sabbatini's. The dining room service was very SLOW.
We chose to eat in Caribe Cafe 6 nights. Yes it was a buffet. But choices we had. I even had lamp chops cooked to order in the Caribe cafe.
Service was wonderful.

I am an experienced cruiser, not a 1st timer. Please do not think we are hard to please. It's not fair when some people write " oh, some people are hard to please".

My first Princess cruise was a let down. I didnt take this cruise for the itinerary since I have been on 40-50 cruises (lost count) but for the Princess experience. I found the ship and my mini suite nice. I also enjoyed meeting many of the cc people. There were helpful people on the ship. I do think the service and food are very important on a cruise and I was just dissapointed with it. I wish I felt differently because most likely I will not do another Princess cruise. I paid more for this cruise than I have on any other cruise (including an 11 day Europe cruise last year) and I dont think what I received was worth the price. I wish I felt differently because I love to cruise. I know people love Princess and I know this is only one cruise with Princess.

Well, I don't know where I got the Crown Grill from! Thanks again for your well-written and balanced review.

I'll give the Crown Grill a try - like others have mentioned, I'm sure it's worth trying at least once.

I hate that too. And it really sets off a cause and effect phenomenon. If people aren't able to say negative things about a cruise without being attacked as having a bad attitude, all we'll hear about is the good stuff. Then, when people experience a cruise firsthand, come back here and say, "Gees, it really wasn't all that we were led to believe it was going to be" (because nothing negative had been posted or read), they will be told they had a bad attitude. Or, even worse, that their expectations were TOO HIGH. Well, gosh, I wonder how they got that way?

As has been said, food is subjective. But service, for the most part, is not. Slow service is slow service regardless of your taste.
