Suites are booked...no upgrade fairy?

We are booked in a Balcony for our March 23 Dream cruise...I tried to do a "mock" booking for a suite and it looked as if they were all booked....I was hoping the upgrade fairy might call and offer an upgrade....any thoughts? Are we out of luck?

Doesnt happen that often. For us two offers on over 20 cruises one we took and one we passed on

BTW typically they will want you to pay more so it is called upsell fairy

We've done 32 Carnival cruises and have never had an upgrade or even an upsell call. There is always a chance that a suite could open up. Someone could cancel. Keep checking. You never know what will happen but, don't be disappointed if nothing happens.

Heres a tip for you, don't wait for the call, you call them.
Works better than waiting for an up sell call .

I've had three in nine cruises--only took one once.

One of the PP's is right, I'd call instead of waiting on one. They're weird with how they show inventory and sometimes there is a room or two held back. Our ship appears sold out, but random rooms are becoming available as people are cancelling or what have you.

I don't think the upgrade or upsell fairy is very common at all. It just seems that way because there are often posts on cruise critic about it. But the hundred of thousands of people who don't get the call don't come on to tell us they didn't get it, so the chances of the call coming seem skewed.

Last year we did get a call and I took the offer..it was much less than booking the Suite in the first place....just thought I may get a call again this year....I'll be happy with the Balcony but would love the Suite!

That's why I have a suite, upgrade cost half the price as booking myself.. but say goodbye to any price change OBC

I received 3 voice mails a few days ago (and 2 emails) asking me to call (upsell, not a upgrade) for the owners suite. I replied to the email later that night with a quick "how much?" The next day, 2 more calls (we weren't here). Then on day 3, I received an email that the offer was already taken. It was definitely not an upgrade because if I wanted it, I'd have to pay. I've since learned it would have been about an additional $1700 - yikes!

About 2 years on another Carnival sailing, I received a call for an upsell (again, not an upgrade which would have been "free") and I took the bait - never regretted it! It was a little cheaper than I could have booked the GS originally so I was happy.

I just noticed that you are booked on the same cruise as I am. We have a huge group on the Roll Call and then a facebook group too. You live right down the road from me!

I have been on 5 cruises. Cruise #2 and #3 I have gotten upsell calls and took them both. First cruise was an OV cabin. Next two cruises we had balcony cabins booked and got the upsell call to upgrade to ocean suites and we said YES!! So I guess I have been lucky!! Both times were for good prices 3 or 4 days before ship left. Loved the suites!!
