Transportation from New Orleans Airport

Does anyone have any suggestions on transportation and costs from MSY airport in New Orleans to convention center area hotels?

Taxi's are $33 for up to 3, then $12 per person. A few hotels offer shuttle service. Taxi from hotel to port is $7 per person. These are set prices.

I know the taxis have flat fees to the port. Believe it's $33 for 1 or 2 and $19 each for 3 or more.

Carnival has a shuttle service for $20 - something per person.

We took a limo for four for around $90.

I was going to reply, but realized this has nothing to do with Carnival and is actually about departure ports. I'll wait till it is moved.

Do you mind me asking which limo company you used? We are looking for one and I haven't found one for less than $230.

There is also an airport shuttle for $20pp one-way, $38pp round trip, which makes it economical if there is only one person. If there are 2 or more, you are better off taking a cab.

We did this last month. The rates are posted on sign boards and in the cab. As stated, there is a flat rate between the two points, and it is $33.00 for up to 2 people. We went from the airport to the Embassy Suites by the Convention Center; any hotel in the Convention Center area is the same price.

Does anyone think/know if there is any advantage to booking a cruise line (Carnival) sponsored transfer vs. the airport shuttle? The Carnival r/t price is $8 more pp. I'd consider it if there is some safety that they'll "hold the ship" once we're on the bus...
