Breakfast & Lunch on Serenade of Seas

Recommended Posts

Have never sailed with RCL so we would like to know if breakfast is served in MDR as well as Windjammer. Is lunch served in MDR as first come first serve where you can sit where you want or is it assigned seating?

Breakfast is served every morning in Windjammer and the MDR.

Lunch is served every day in Windjammer, and sea days in the MDR. MDR seating is not assigned for lunch, but you will be seated by staff.

Breakfast every day in MDR. You cannot, however, necessarily sit where you want. It is usually one section, and they try and fill up all the large tables first. There will be a small breakfast buffet plus hot items

Lunch is only on sea days, same set up. Except the buffet is the tutti salad bar.

Is there a big difference in the food served in the MDR vs the Windjammer for breakfast and lunch?

Yes. below is a link to some sample MDR lunch menus, starting at post #8:

For breakfast, the MDR usually has eggs benedict, which I've only seen very occasionally in Windjammer.

We prefer breakfast in the DR...it's just nice to be served without juggling plates, utensils, etc, while searching for butter or syrup! In the DR, all condiments are on the table for you. You can get the same food in both places. Yes, in the DR, there's a menu, but you can "mix and match" if you desire!

Lunch is only on sea days in the DR....but if you're at the pool, you won't want to get dressed for lunch, usually. NO bathing suits, but shorts are fine.

are there any other places to eat for breakfast/lunch on Serenade?

(I've only been on Oasis class - so used to that variety.)

The Park Café also serves a light breakfast. Some pastries, bagels, sandwiches, fruit, yogurt parfait, (might be cereal, can't remember), juice and coffee. Nice for a lighter breakfast, and without the crowds from the Windjammer.

And of course lunch in Park Café has the Kummelweck sandwich. Also offer some small salads and a few other things.

Don't forget, behind the Windjammer there is a beautiful outside open deck seating with sun cover that has a view off the aft of the ship. Nice place for breakfast and lunch on good weather days. You simply walk your plate out there from the buffet.

Last August, on twin sister Radiance, we observed whales enjoying our wake as we sat back there along the railing in Alaska. :D
