Private taxi tour

We are wondering about booking a taxi to take us on an island tour, perhaps about 1 - 2 hours long, and then perhaps drop us at a beach. Should we try and pre-book this or just get a taxi once off the ship? And does anybody have a rough idea what this may cost for 4 people?

If you want one of the open-air "truck" type vehicles that holds 20 pr so people then .probably $25 per person and there will be plenty of those available.

However, if you want something more private, air-conditioned, etc....I would pre-book. We just used Presidential Taxi and it was fabulous! Met us next to ship with electronic sign and dressed very professionally. Fabulous service! Highly recommend! $75 per hour for the van (priced hourly not per person)

We just returned from St. Thomas aboard the Getaway and per recommendation on here we hired Dean Chinnery. He was excellent, he was ready and waiting right when we got off the ship with a sign with our name on it. He had a nice air conditioned van (which was excellent in September!) and it was a private tour. He is a retired police officer. I liked his touring style, he didn't talk just to talk but he answered all our questions and gave us lots of info as well. He ended up taking us on a complete loop of the island. We drove up to Paradise Point, a couple of lookouts, and Mountaintop. I know that he will go where you want to go as well.

The tour was about 2 to 2 1/2 hours long and it was $25 a person and our son (5) was free. He dropped us off at Secret Harbour for the length of time we wanted and it was $10 per person (again, son was free) to get picked up and back to the ship. We specifically wanted air conditioning and a private tour, and so it was worth it to us to book ahead.

We also used Dean Chinnery's services a few weeks ago. FANTASTIC!! We've been on a couple of open-air taxi tours in the past & they were fun but we saw so much more with Dean. We were able to go where WE wanted to go & see what WE wanted to see. All of our questions were answered. He gave us a great tour!

I'm just curious if the prices are the same $25 per person this year. We only have 2 people though. How long did he take you around for? Also, was it just the island or did he take you shopping as well? Thanks so much!

This sounds perfect for DH & me! We are not beach people so this sounds like it's right up our alley.
