New Orleans Cruise Terminal Parking with Arrival one day early

I'm thinking of parking at the cruise port terminal in New Orleans (Erato Street Cruise Terminal) and would like to park the car there starting one day before the cruise departs. Has anyone done this?

The normal process is to arrive the day of the cruise, drop off bags for porters, and enter the garage to park. Somewhere during this process I must show my cruise ticket and would think being one day early would not be an issue.

My plan would be to park the car in the garage the night before and bring my bags down the next day to give to the baggage handlers to check in.

In case anyone sees this and is interested, I emailed the Port of New Orleans using the contact for Cruise director and here is the response:

Sorry. We only allow parking for the days you actually cruise to/from New Orleans.
