Wondering whether there will be lots of taxis available at the cruise terminal to go to our hotel in Shanghai city center or whether we will have to pre book something.

Any info you have will be much appreciated along with an idea of cost.

Thanks

If you mean the terminal at Baoshan there will be taxis. There should also be shuttle busses.

When we arrived there in 2011 the port was brand new. Workers help passengers into taxis, giving them the addresses of where we were going. However I would be sure to have your address written in Chinese and double check that the driver knows where you want to go.

Thanks for the info.

We are going to be staying at the Marriott Hotel City centre and when we received our hotel confirmation. attached was a single sheet with the hotel name & address written in both English and Chinese . Very helpful I think.

We have 2 days there. Currently looking at tour quotes for the second day. We are thinking of half a day out to one of the closer-in Water towns followed by an afternoon touring one area of Shanghai. Do you have any suggestions .

Love Shanghai...We spent 4 nights there after our China land trip in 2013 and will be spending another 4 nights there after our cruise this March at the Grand Central Hotel.

We enjoyed walking along the Bund, Nanjing Road and Yuan Garden..but especially the shopping. Enjoy Shanghai

Ashland's suggestions are good.... IMO "must do"s for a short time in Shanghai. If you can get to the French Concession, you'll see a big transition to an area of leafy streets, older architecture, and countless restaurants/pubs. Try Xintiandi if time is tight, a nice restored area with a lot of dining choices. You are in a good location, walking distance to People's Sq, a bit longer walk to The Bund, and convenient to the metro.

I agree with the above. We really liked the National Museum. We spent time in the Pudong area, including going up to the viewing level of one of the skyscrapers. We shopped for custom made clothes and walked the French Concession, the Bund, Nanjing Road, and the uptown area where we stayed.

Are there shuttle buses in both directions? From where in Shanghai city center/Metro station can I catch a shuttle bus?
