Will most hotels hold luggage until check-in time?

We will be disembarking on the Spirit and staying one night in Barcelona after our cruise. I am assuming we will be off the ship by 8 am. Is it standard practice for most hotels to hold luggage until check-in time? I hate to drag our things around for the morning.

That will depend on the size of the hotel.

Most of the larger hotels have this facility but I would recommend checking with the hotel before you book.

Also make sure that the luggage will be kept in a secure place. I have seen hotels stack left luggage, unattended, in a corner of reception.

If the hotel is not busy and the room is ready they will let you check in. Most large hotels have a luggage room where they look after your belongings.

Yes, most of the hotels will hold your luggage. As suggested in another post, check with the hotel to make certain that there is a dedicated luggage storage room - I, too, have seen luggage stacked unattended in some hotels.

Our hotel took our luggage prior to check, but simply put it in an unsecured room behind the desk. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my briefcase with passports, tickets and other important information there. Also, I didn't want to walk around Barcelona (pickpocket capital of Europe) with that briefcase, so we sat in the restaurant for two hours and drank coffee.

On a later trip, we had a group of four and hired Barcelona Day Tours for a tour where they kept the luggage in their van.

Hotel Jazz does, they have a secure room and give you a receipt :)

Most hotels will.
