Default Private transfer from Heathrow to hotel in London

I'd like some recommendations for a transfer from LHR to our hotel. We'd like either a private car or a shared shuttle. I know the train is cheaper but with luggage it is just too much of a hassle for us. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Try www.justairports.com...You'll just need your hotel postal code for an online quote.

You will find several recommendations for private transfers on this board. My strong recommendation would be to use one of them, not one of the shared shuttle services at Heathrow. There have been mixed reports on this board, but no one has really made a long term success of such a service.

I just posted this above but will repeat what I said.

We just were in London pre-cruise late November and I booked the following airport transfer from LHR to our hotel: http://www.247airporttransfer.co.uk/

I booked them online and we paid cash when we got to our hotel. You can also pay w/ a credit card on the website. The taxi driver does not take credit cards on the day of your trip. I can highly recommend this company, they were waiting for us as we exited the airport. You would probably be able to use a smaller vehicle than we did as there were 3 of us w/ lots of luggage. You can get the amount of the fare by putting in your hotel destination. Our hotel was 45 min. drive from LHR so it was nice to sit back and enjoy the drive after a long overnight plane ride. This company was the most reasonable of all the ones I got prices from. They are a licensed private car hire service w/ individually owned taxis. We had a large van as we had more luggage and pad 40£ for the trip, well worth it! A smaller vehicle would have been 30£ but we wouldn't have been able to fit all our luggage in.

The driver will monitor your flight and know if it is late arriving (ours was). When you book the transfer the website will ask you what time you want to be picked up. I had added an extra hour's arrival time for customs, etc. The driver will arrive approx. 30 min. after your flight arrival so you have time to clear customs, pick up your luggage, etc. You will still have an extra 30 min. beyond this wait time for free.

I did a lot of checking of other companies and this company had the best rates. People told us to take the train, etc. but after a long international flight that was late arriving, we so appreciated the convenience of having a driver waiting for us, he'll take your luggage for you and load it into the vehicle, and you can sit back and relax on the ride to your hotel.

Hope this helps.

Mary

Angry Website does not work.

Hi, Cruising Mimi,

I have been trying all day to make a booking. I got a rate of 41 GBP and became a member (logged in), sent them an e-mail, even tried their "Chat."
The website is just too difficult to use and it is a long-distance call from the U.S.A. I don't know what to try next.

http://www.247airporttransfer.co.uk/

I sent this message through their website:
I have registered and got the rate of 41 GBP to go from Heathrow to 77 Mansell Street, London, UK E1 8FE on Saturday 8 June, arriving at 11:15 AM. Air New Zealand Flight 2.
HOW CAN I GET THIS BOOKED ???
Thank you for contacting us! Your message will be reviewed as soon as possible by one of our consultants.
I SENT MESSAGE THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE AT 1:30 PM ON THRUSDAY 30 MAY:
Heathrow to 77 Mansell Street, London, UK E1 8FE on Saturday 8 June, arriving at 11:15 AM. Air New Zealand Flight 2.

Talking Just Airports is better.

I got an even better rate at JUST AIRPORTS (39 GBP) and the booking seems to have gone through. It will be cash on that day. I should get a Confirmation of Booking within 6 hours.

Thank you all for your gracious help.

Di - that's odd. I booked with 247 last week and the site worked just fine. I paid with a credit card so I'm set. It was only 38 gbp from LHR to my hotel in Covent Garden.
Glad you found a good alternative.

Today I filled out the form on the Just Airports site, and received a confirmation number within an hour (I'm in Canada, so I found this quite impressive). The price quoted was 41 GBP but what I found curious was, the confirmation they sent indicated this agreed on price plus car park charges.

I emailed back asking how much the park charges will be, as I need to have the currency to pay for it when we arrive, in cash. Also, on the form I filled out it asked our flight number and the arrival time, which I provided. The confirmation stated "Thank you for the booking of an estate car and driver on 05/07/2013 at 11:40 hours from T3" - problem is, we are supposed to LAND at 11:40, not be ready to leave the airport at 11:30 So I emailed them back asking not only about the car park price, but stressing the fact that we will still need to go through customs, etc.

Obviously, this is how they make their living so I'm sure things will be fine. I will wait to hear back from them on the details. Thankfully, we don't give out credit card numbers, so if I don't like the answers they give me I will try another company. This one was recommended by a couple of long-time prolific London forum contributors on trip advisor, so I feel somewhat comfortable booking them.

All we care about is that after a long flight from the west coast of North America, we can be taken directly to our hotel for a shower. We were not looking forward to the tube and buses, with children in tow.

We recently booked Express Airport Transport from Heathrow to the Jurys Inn Chelsea hotel and return from the Kensington Close Hotel two weeks later. There were four of us and we got a roundtrip package price of 69 United Kingdom Pounds. Everything went as planned, even the 4:00 AM pickup from the Kensington Close Hotel. We would use this company again.

Default Anyone heard from Ray's transfers lately?

I'm worried we'll be stood up. I booked them on April 15 to pick us up at Heathrow to take us to Harwich and the return but have not heard from them again and my email of a few days ago hasn't been answerd. Has anyone used them recently?
We need a very early pickup from Harwich to Heathrow on the 15, to make a noon flight, and I'm worried about the lack of communication.
If anyone has heard anything about them please let me know.

Thanks,
N

Just a follow up. We used just airports.com the total price was 42£with the car park added. We did get the bigger car and the driver showed up with a brand new( we were the first fare in it) he was there when we emerged from immigration and customs holding a sign with my name on it. Easy as pie!
