To me that is a hard decision for anyone else to make. What is your vacation style like? Everyones is different and therefore the cruise line that fits them best is different. To me, it really doesnt make one better than the other, just a better fit for that person.

Research each of the lines and see how everything is handled. Do you want to be more formal, less formal, other children for yours to play with (if you have them going), less children as you have none. See what each of the ships has to offer, does it interest you? Are you into rock climbing or sitting quietly by the pool or neither.

With all of the cruise lines, you can do as much as you like or as little as you like.

Sorry I wasnt more help and could not point you in a specific direction

The first thing we look at is the itineraries. You need to look those over -- decide on ports -- check them out on line here.

Base you port decisions on what your interests are and what you want to see and do in those ports.

Then check prices depending on your budget.

The ship comes last.

You are not giving us any info to suggest what is best for you. So you are just asking our preference. That said, I prefer Princess.

We prefer smaller ships
Choose based on your budget & the ports that are a must see for you

Another point to consider is the departure port. If you depart from England or the Netherlands, you will have two additional sea days, as it takes an extra day for the ship to reach the Baltic Sea.
Our preference was to book a cruise that started in Copenhagen (already in the Baltic), and that's why we booked the Emerald Princess. It was an 11 day cruise, with only 2 sea days, so very port intensive. I suggest any cruise you select should offer at least a 2 day stay in St. Petersburg.
Also, the NCL ships used to dock quite a distance away from Stockholm (not sure if this has changed), which requires a one hour shuttle to the city. I would want to avoid this situation.

Enjoy your visit to the Baltic area, we did!

We cruised Princess. One of the most important stops IMO, is Oslo. To miss the sculptures in Frogner Park would be a shame.

Vicca- where do you want to start from? Are you flying to the UK from Oz? Virtually every line will have a ship going from the UK- Dover, Harwich and Southampton in the spring/summer. They range from the classy, the cheap, the small, the vast, the party type, the very American or the very Brit.....there are ships the size of towns, there are old ships with just 100 or so people on board.
You'll be welcome on any of them!
