Thinking of doing a Southbound Pacific Northwest Cruise
We are 40-Somethings thinking of doing a Southbound Pacific Northwest cruise in September. Specifically, we'd like to take the 3 or 5 day cruise from Vancouver to San Francisco or San Diego. I think its Carnival or HAL, or something.
Up until now, we've only done Mexican Riviera Cruises with Carnival and RCCL. Can anyone share their comparisons of the two types of cruises? Are Pacific Northwest cruises just as fun?
Mexican Riviera was a lot of fun, but not sure about a Pacific Northwest Cruise. Please share your thoughts as we plan to make our decision by the end of the June.
The coastal cruises are great! Especially so if you want to 'try-out' a different cruise line without investing in the dollars -since these are usually pretty cheap!
The 'atmosphere' is a bit different that a typical 7-day cruise because there are so many first-time cruisers.
Key will be finding a line that matches your 'personality'....
1991 RCCL Nordic Prince - 10 day - Southern Caribbean from San Juan, PR
1992 RCCL Song of Norway - 10 day - Alaska from Vancouver
1992 RCCL Song of Norway - 10 day Panama Canal from San Juan, PR to Mazatlan
1993 RCCL Sun Viking - 10 day - Alaska from Vancouver
1995 RCI Legend of the Seats - 1 day Inaugural Cruise from Vancouver
2003 PCL Tahitian Princess - 10 day - Tahiti and the Marquesas from Papeetee
2005 PCL Regal Princess - 10 day - Mexican Riveria from San Diego
2006 HAL Statendam - 4 day - Pacific Coastal from Vancouver to Los Angeles
2007 HAL Noordam - 10 day - Caribbean from New York City
2010 HAL Amsterdam - 14 day - Alaska from Seattle
2010 HAL Oosterdam - 5 day - Pacific Coastal from Vancouver to San Diego
These are great cruises, but widen your vacation and stick it out through the Panama Canal..........THAT'S a fantastic repo cruise. (Sept. 24 - Oct. 10th on Celebrity Infinity.........or catch a different line for another). These repo cruises are generally not as crowded as well.
There's a WIDE difference between the two lines you've been on and HAL............read on these threads............I'd take HAL over the two you've been on FOR SURE. We've had many wonderful cruises on HAL.
