I carry two back-up's. An Apple Mac Book Pro and a hand held 20GB hard drive that has slots for all memory cards. Plug the card in and it automatically copies everything on the card. I carry 5 8GB cards for my Canon Rebel camera and the cards get swapped every time I get on the ship from any excursion. It is hard to shoot 8GB in large format in a day and I do not do movies on it as it is an XTI model. You need at least one form of a back-up even if it is another memory card you swap out.

Also you do want to make sure that if you get a "Once in a Lifetime Picture" you have it backed up. Mine is my granddaughter sitting in the First Officers Seat on our 757 Flight to NYC for Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in 2010. She had just been given her "Delta Wings" (for her first flight on Delta) by the Captain who invited her up to see his Office! You never know what will be a Photo Op next. Yes we were on the ground boarding passengers.
