We will be in Curacao on Sunday, November 13. Some of the reading I have done on Curacao indicates that many of the stores and markets are closed on Sundays. Can someone who has visited on a Sunday say if the stores and markets are open, closed or open but reduced hours. Thanks

I would also be interested in finding out what is open on a Sunday.

We are there on Sun Dec 4 and had planned a DIY tour of the town but if everything is closed on a Sunday perhaps a tour is needed.

Ideas appreciated.

We were there on Sunday November 13 and ended up taking a customized tour with Gaby from www.sand-and-stilettos.com.

We had a great time. We really had no specific ideas on what we wanted to do so she planned the whole day for us. We weren't interested in spending the day at the beach or in the tourist shops so we took us to a remote national park where we saw the rugged west coast and got to do a bit of hiking. We had lunch at http://www.karaktercuracao.com which is a small restaurant located on the beach. She took us to some remote scenic areas where few tourists ever go. We had some time left over so she gave us a tour of the city and told some stories about growing up on the island. We had about an hour after she dropped us off at the floating bridge to wander around a bit before boarding again.

We were in Curacao on Sunday February 25, 2018, on the Royal Princess. Having looked at this thread before we sailed, I wanted to post our experience about the distillery and the shops.

We were on a morning ship tour that described an included stop at the distillery as one of the stops. Indeed we had a 20 minute stop at the distillery. They had 3 flavors available for tasting, the original blue, tamarind, and chocolate. Then we had time in the shop to buy what we wanted.

After lunch on the ship, we walked into town across the pontoon bridge. On the way, there were quite a few vendors, and I noticed as we walked through the Rif Fort that some of the shops and eating/drinking places were open.

After crossing the bridge, we walked down Breedestraat Punda and there were several souvenir shops that were open. On the way back to the ship, we stopped for a drink at the outside eating/drinking area with the umbrellas that is right next to the bridge.

The Royal Princess is about 3500 passengers, and was the only ship in port that day, but apparently it is large enough that the tourist shops and eateries thought it worthwhile to be open. We were able to do everything that we wanted to do.

We were there on a Sunday in December on the Royal Princess. There were enough passengers on our ship expressing interest in touring the synagogue that they arranged to open it for them. Our cruise was during Hanukkah.
