Things to do while cruising around New Zealand

We are on the Ocean Princess and will be doing 3 ports in New Zealand. Bay of Islands, Auckland, and Tauranga, New Zealand om March 10-12. They are all typical port calls (8AM to 5PM). Does anyone have any great suggestions for these 3 ports. We have never been to NZ. We like lazy tours and don't want to do any mountain climbing or surfing. We live near the beach and never go to it when we are home in Mexico.

We are open to suggestions for other types of "got to see" places or tours. We would consider a private tour with a guide.
