Shadow Departure From Seward

This August will be our first cruise with Silversea, departing from Seward SB to Vancouver. We are tentatively planning on doing an excursion with Major Marine the day of departure and it appears we won't be returning to Seward and boarding until sometime between 5:30 to 6 p.m., with the ship scheduled to sail at 7 p.m. Are there any restrictions with Silversea that might present a problem by boarding this close to sailing?

You probably have to be on board by 5:30PM for a 7:00PM departure.

Passenger list is usually submitted to the proper authorities about 90 minutes before departure.

We sailed from Seward last August. Be careful with this plan. Most passengers arrive on the train from Anchorage, and the ship sails shortly thereafter.

I would suggest doing what we did, and spend a night or two in Seward precruise. We were there three nights including one spent on beautiful Fox Island, and were able to board the ship around 1:00 p.m. which let us avoid all of the ugly crowds.

Thanks...we have gone to a Plan B. It had been suggested to us to use a different vendor for the Kenai Fjords tour and it appears that is what we will do. Instead of returning so late, it will be an early morning cruise, putting us back to the Seward Harbor around 2 p.m. This will give us plenty of time to embark...probably beat everyone coming via the train!

Thanks again to everyone who offered their ideas/thoughts!
