Which Ships DO NOT have Dreamworks

Just interested in what rccl ships do not have dreamworks on board. We

were recently on Freedom and it was awful. It ruined Sailaway and the deck party. Isnt there enough kids areas. Do these ridiculous animated creatures have to interfere with the wonderful sailaway experience and deck party and also alot of times while the band was playing on sea days. I felt like I was on a Disney Cruise. Worst thing was it was mid Jauary and there were only like maybe 80 kids on board yet the whole cruise catered them. It was so weird and definately not a vacation ID ever pay my hard earned money and waste my long awaited vacation on again. So IM hoping Explorer and atleast a few other ships arent going to jump ship and go dreamworks. It was our friends first cruise and they were like um this isnt how you described sailaway or the sea days or dancing under the stars at all. Very disappointing. Im hoping RCCL figures this out becuase we've been loyal to them for so long. But if all the ships are going to be like this we re going to have to go Norwegian unfortunately.

Yes it's Oasis class and Freedom class only , although Independence doesn't have it yet , must say though that we were on Liberty and hardly noticed the dream works experience we didn't think it was shoved in your face , best you stick to Voyager class and below to avoid it .

Allure/Oasis does have them, but the sailaway is in the Aqua theater leaving the upper decks free for the sail away that you and I probably enjoy. In fact I had a great week on Allure, including sailaway and almost never saw the dreamworks characters.

I agree having sailed on Liberty twice in 2011, one of which was a 14 night TA with very few children onboard. And we're going back in May and I was initially sceptical of the impact of Dreamworks, but didn't find it excessive.

Thanks soooo much. So it WONT be going to Voyager Class then at all, ever??? Thats great.

Lotty, Well you know how usually at sailaway you dance with the crew and they play fun music. They played the likes of the Hokey Pokey and had the hippo up there and the skunk thing. You werent able to dance not that you would want to anyways to the music they were playing. But I love sailaway and dancing on the pool deck. Then they have that sweet kids pool zone on the freedom class which i love cuz it keeps the kids over there. But not on the dreamworks ships. They were playing madagascar and Smurfs at the main pool so all the kids were in the main pool watching the movies. Cant blame them. If i were a kid Id be watching the movies too. But just didnt make sense to me

Do you mean the H2O zone , where the water squirters are ?that was on Liberty too and a lot of the younger kids were over there ,we probably didn't have many children onboard so didn't notice that many in the main pool , mind you the pool was very cold so maybe that's why , yes at sail away I saw Fiona and Shrek by the main pool doing a dance but didn't take much notice of it , I think your best to do a Voyager class , no dream works there , the only thing different is no outdoor movie screen and no flow rider , we sailed on Navigator and had a great time ,but for me Liberty has been my best ever cruise , I have done that one twice .

I also will not go on a cruise that have those creatures on it. As some else posted some of the NCL cruises have Dora etc. and I will not sail on them either. They need to keep them confined in the childrens area.

Just got off Freedom on the 5th. They were hardly noticeable and I'm not a fan either. I wouldn't be concerned.

No one can ever tell you that. All we can say is that it is not on the Voyager class of ships now.

I will say that I barely noticed Dreamworks on Oasis at all. It certainly was not in your face.

Congratulation! You found a solution to feel like cruising DCL without paying the crazy price. Too bad you didn't enjoy it though.

Try Holland America, which I like. They don't have characters.

mariapd719 -- if you are looking for a slightly more elegant/adult-focused cruise experience, you might do better with Celebrity than going to NCL. From what I saw of your signature, you have enough Crown&Anchor points to be grandfathered in to the equivalent level of X's Captain's Club. They have some nice perks (but no D+ or higher equivalent level).

Don't get me wrong, I still love the RC ships. And I have to admit that, when we sailed on Liberty last year, the Dreamworks characters were not nearly as intrusive as I had feared they would be. But, bottom line -- DH and I do not sail with kids. So, we would rather see an investment and emphasis on food and service -- and we get that on Celebrity.

Why should children's activities be confined to a few rooms while everyone else enjoys the entire ship and kids fare is no cheaper than adult 3/4 person fairs. Only place it shouldn't be allowed is in the C&A lounges, I agree with majority that the no kids policy should have remained there. However, ONLY 4 ships in the entire NCL fleet have Dreamworks and 3 (when jewel gets it for their Alaskan cruises) on NCL have Nick so get over yourself and choose one of the other many ships that are character free.

I think you meant RCI.

Regarding your last sentence...I think you mean fictional or costumed versions of animated characters. In my experience, I have found there to be "characters" on all cruise lines if you know what I mean. Many of them I found to be very entertaining!!!!! LOL!:D

But adults don't enjoy the entire ship, there are a great many children only spaces that adults are not allowed to use, so it's works both ways JMHO.

And IMHO your instruction "to get over yourself" was a little rude and uncalled for.

And before you say it, yes, we will be looking with interest at the growing number of adult only cruises in the future, but as I mentioned in a earlier post, the Dreamworks characters in our experience on Liberty are not intrusive and have yet to spoil our cruise.

The ONLY place that is kids only is the children's program rooms. The adults have the serenity, casino, dance clubs, etc... (although some adults do argue that children should be allowed, which I disagree with). Like I stated before, I do wish they would have left C&A child free so adults could have a place to relax inside without the noise of the clubs or having to be outside in serenity. As for my statement of "get over yourself" it may have been rude, and I apologize, but the statement of their shouldn't be ANY characters on the 4 ships that provide them, was over the top since there are so many other ships within the same fleet that offer no characters, as if children are second class citizens and shouldn't have anything to do unless it is in the child's program. I wouldn't tell someone to look at a more adult oriented cruise because believe me, once our kids are grown, we will be doing the more adult oriented cruises as well but I think it is great that there are ships that cater to children, I think there is a total of 11 ships that have characters throughout disney, NCL and RCCL, so you can see they are not taking over the market.
