Trinidad and Steel drum bands

Does anyone know of a place to go hear the steel drum bands perform during the day? We will be in Trinidad for the day a little before Carnival next year and would like to go listen to some bands practicing. Is this possible during the day or are we stuck with a Princess tour for the cultural show?

There are plenty of pan yards in Port of Spain, and I'm of the opinion that you might get to hear some rehearsals if you'.re going close to carnival. I saw a few youth performances when I was there last month, but only on Sat.

Usually the pan yards are only open for practice in the evenings. Unless you are in port late, you probably should stick to the cultural show.
