Iceland or Copenhagen

We are planning the Scandinavia/Russia cruise on the Emerald for May, 2013. Our travel agent asks if we want to have a couple of post-cruise days in Copenhagen (where we disembark) or in Iceland (where we fly through on the way back to New England). We've never been to either place before. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Iceland, because cruises often have to miss Reykavik due to sea/wind conditions. Copenhagen is wonderful but it's also easier to get to/return.

Hi,

We recently were on the Scandinavia / Russia cruise on the Emerald Princess (July 17-28) and had a wonderful cruise. We spent two days in Copenhagen prior to the cruise (booked the pre-cruise stay at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel with Princess) and greatly enjoyed the city.

Maybe you could visit Copenhagen prior to the cruise and Iceland after the cruise?

We have been in both cities for several days each at the end of cruises in the last few years. Loved both, although both are expensive. One or two days doesn't do either place justice. You could do five or six days easily in both places, perhaps seeing the countryside on one or two of those days. In Copenhagen, we loved the Marriott--great rooms, great location along the river, wonderful views, and the canal boats dock at the back door. Unfortunately, I don't know of a good hotel to recommend in Iceland. LittleRedJohn.

Hi All

Copenhagen is a great city there just a few weeks ago, frindly people, great feeling to the city.

While Iceland has amazing nature etc, they voted to start killing whales again, so for me thats mean I will not visit Iceland, even sent a letter to their goverment, I like seeing whales while on a cruise do not want to see whaling ships killing them.

As everyone says, both are wonderful, you cannot go wrong. Do remember that if you fly thru Iceland you can get a good deal on a hotel package thru Icelandair for a stopover.
