A small group of us are planning to take the train from LeHavre to Rouen and back on a Sunday. Trains are scheduled to leave at 11 am and return at 4 or 6 pm, which makes a nice flexible day. These seem to be local area trains. My question is whether we can just show up and buy tickets or whether we have to reserve tickets on these local area trains? It would be nice to just wing it and not prepay tickets if we could.

You can just show up at the station and buy a ticket there. No need for booking for this category of train.
