we need to arrange transportation for 6 adults from Orlando to Port everglades early on the 27th November for a cruise on the Allure of the Seas

any ideas and we don't drive

thanks

I responded on the other thread too!

First of all, I would strongly recommend a rental van for lower costs/convenience despite your hesitance to drive. It is an easy drive/route.

It will be interesting to read what others suggest! This is not an easy/cheap transfer! I heard of quotes upwards of $600 for private shuttles for 2 one way - a flight cost $150 plus!

I see ESCOT buses a lot at the various cruise terminals around Florida. They have a Cruise Connection Service that you may want to check. http://cruiseconnection.travel/

I just did a mock booking from Orlando to Port Everglades = ESCOT Cruise Connection - $630 for 6 passengers RETURN!

Amtrak is a possibility. About $50 per person. If your cruise leaves on Sunday the 27th, you would have to travel Saturday as the train does not arrive in FLL until 5:00 PM.

I would not be confident enough to drive and would hate to ask the other in the party to do what I would not do

The road is a very large - wide multi lane Interstate Hwy. with the cost of a transfer so high you may want to get the costs of both and present to the other party so they know the options.

For $600 I'll fly to Orlando myself and drive you

When we lived in Orlando there were buses that departed the IDrive area to Port Everglades. I seem to remember they were cruise line specific. I know there is a bus from Ocala (north of Orlando) that travels to Royal Caribbean cruises.

Which cruise line are you sailing? I see, you are on Allure. I will try to find additional information for you.

I just GOOGLED "transportation Orlando to Port Everglades." As I remembered there are a number of options for you to investigate. The 1st one I checked said 5 to 7 passengers $100 per group one way and $150 round trip. They even had a time schedule posted. There were other options too. I know one cruise line picked up near Sea World. Hope this helps.

Wow. That was DH's mother's maiden name. I have a Moore line in my family tree but have never been able to find out where they came from in Ireland.

Found 2 more for you to check. The Florida Express Bus, did a fake booking and got $55 pp. Also, Orlando Bus Ind. has scheduled service and it may be $69pp.

We spent 3 weeks traveling around Ireland in 1998, I believe. Wish we had spent more time. Have cousins named Murphy who want to come for a visit someday. I told them buy a ticket and go.

Florida Sunshine Shuttle shows a rate of $600 on their website!

For comparison, reputable shuttle companies charge $120 or thereabouts for private shuttles between Orlando and Port Canaveral - just under an hour's drive. I seriously doubt you will get the same rates to Port Everglades (5 - 6 hours) but let's wait and see what Snit can dig up for you!

As I mentioned above and on your other thread, the ESCOT and Florida Express Buses (their cruise connections) should be your most cost-effective transport (between $50 and $60) per person one-way. (not considering car rentals)

Hi - We have used VIP Limo several times to return to Orlando airport from Port Canaveral - I am sure that Michael Robinson can give you a reasonable quote but you need to email or call him:

Just a correction to my previous post and an observation!

The drive in a shuttle van from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale is 4 hours (not 5 or 6 as I wrote - I was looking at buses with many stops)

Observation:

Florida has the most comprehensive bus/shuttle system of any state I've lived in thanks to the theme parks in the north and the casinos in the south and the cruise ports, etc.

There are at least a dozen companies running daily shuttles between Orlando - Fort Lauderdale - Miami (generally they do not stop at cruise terminals). Fares can be as low as $20 per person.

The catch is - the pickups and drops are generally in public places (outside a Denny's, McDonalds, etc). So you have to make your way with all your luggage to one of these places and wait faithfully for some company to pick you! What if they do not show up? Reviews online are generally not very favorable so that does not help either!

I have seen Javax, Smart Shuttle Line, Jet Set, Super Tours and Megabus on the roads and I am sure there are many others.

Only a few companies (I mentioned ESCOT and Florida Express above) actually focus on the cruise ports from what I can tell with fares starting at $50.

If your driver is not a US citizen it may be best for you to look for a broker in the UK for your car rental. At least that is the general consensus on Trip Advisor. That way you make sure your driver has all the proper insurance.

If your driver is a US citizen then I would just check prices among the major brands and choose the company with the lowest price.

If your "lad" is under 25 years old the rate may be substantially higher.
