Pocket wifi on the ship

I've considered renting a pocket wifi (tep) for the cruise and am wondering if anyone has tried and found it to be usable while at sea. Given that we'll be staying close to land, I wondered if it'd be usable.

Never heard of what you are referring to, but the chances of getting a land signal more than 30 or 45 minutes from port are extremely slim. The ship's wifi will definitely be the dominant signal.

I would check the rates with the carrier before you purchase. The ship does have cellular service while at sea, but the rates for data are very high.

I have used Tep in London with no problems but I doubt it will work at sea unless docked in port.

Since then I have used an unlocked MiFi from ATT I bought on eBay with a local data SIM with good success in several countries.
