Do US citizens need a visa to enter Australia and how much is it? If one is needed how soon can you get it before your planned trip? Thanks Steve

yes, you need authority to enter Australia.

I presume that this is for a vacation, so you should be able to use the Electronic Entry Authority process (same as we have to have the ESTA for the US). Valid for 12 months

The website says the average processing time is less than 1 day, so it can be done close to time of travel (unless there are criminal records or other issues that require additional assessment)

US friends have said it takes about 10 minutes and is processed straight away. within the hour of payment.:D
