Luganville - Local taxi's OK?

Hi,

We have been to Luganville before and have seen many taxi drivers/local tour operators touting for business as we walked off the pier. We haven't used any of these persons before and was wondering how reliable they are and what sort of prices they charge for a full day tour?

We are heading back there later this year and looking at this as an option.

We are cruising there at the end of the year and asked the same question to some past cruisers we know. And they said there is no problem as long as you agree on a price and don't pay them until they return you to the ship.

I thought that would be the case. Will just wing it on the dock on the day.

FYI, there are taxi drivers in the environs of the pier touting for business, but there are also taxi drivers outside the pier fence who appear to offer a cheaper price than the ones inside.
