Denali shuttle bus service end of May

I am planning to travel to Alaska the last two weeks of May, with a trip to Denali as one of the last stops. The NPS website says the entire road won't be open until June 8, but some opens May 20. Does anyone have experience with how much of the road will be open before June 8? Will it be possible (or likely?) to get to Eielson visitor center then?

Check http://www.nps.gov/dena for details. The road is open to Toklat until May 31, to Eielson Jun 1-7 and to the end of the road on/after June 8. So there is a zero chance of getting to Eielson before June 1.

If possible, adjust your dates and itinerary, to be at Denali June 1 or later. Especially, if you aren't going to be a frequent visitor. As obvious, with this kind of plan, only a northbound cruise is available.

Thanks. We are doing an 11 or 12 day land only trip this time... I'm planning ahead for 2016. The kids are done with school on May 20, and I figured we would leave right away, but maybe it makes more sense to wait one week.... leave Memorial Day weekend, start our trip south in Kenai, then head north for the second part, after June 1.
