Ship Tour to the Baths

We are cruising on X and our visit to Tortola is from 7:00-14:00.

Due to the time factor would we best to take the ship trip to the Baths?We are in our early 60's, would the climb up be challenging for us (I am fit but my husband less so).

As it is our first visit, should we do something else instead or are the Baths a MUST see?

The Baths are one of the great excursions while in the BVI, the path down and back up is uneven and can be a little difficult coming back up in the heat but youi will be fine if no major handicaps, etc.

The problem is the 2PM sail. You would need to hightail it to the ferry to make the 7:45AM ferry to Virgin Gorda, and take either the 11:30 AM or 12:40PM return ferry. The ferry ride is 1/2 hr so you should be OK with the 1:10 return if there are no delays.

If you decide not to do the Baths a tour of Tortola would be nice as there are some nice beaches and amazing views from the hills. Taxi tour = $55/hr and there is an operator - scatosbusntaxi.com

Have been to the Bath's and loved it. This year we took a ship's tour of Tortola and it was really nice. We stopped for several photo stops and then went to Cane Garden Bay. We were there for an hour. It is a lovely beach with clean bathrooms. They gave us each a rum punch and we could choose to add as much rum as we wanted. There are little flea market style booths with tropical clothing and souvenirs. It was $29pp. We enjoyed this tour and felt it gave us a general outlook of the island.:)

That is the standard tour of Tortola, with Cane Garden Bay being the main destination. Unfortunately CGB is the main tourist attraction and gets very busy because there are 6 or 7 beach bars/restaurants there and it's accessible by safari truck taxis. It is a great spot for happy hours and dinners but it is not typical of Tortola. That was a nice tour though because you got to see many of the west side bays enroute.

The Baths are a unique formation and if there is a must-do in the BVI that's one.
