Uniworld Vienna

day1

Recommended Posts

When we went 2 years ago, they took us to the Hofburg Theatre and it was worthwhile. They had their local orchestra accompanied by young opera singers dressed in period costumes perform many recognizable pieces by Mozart, Strauss, and other famous composers. However, if you are going on the Danube Holiday itinerary, the concert will be in a different venue, but will be an included excursion that will not be an additional cost. Which trip are you taking?

We are not on a holiday itinerary; however, we have been in Bavaria during that time and it's wonderful!

We will be in Vienna during All Saint's Day and really unsure of what will be closed/open, etc. Just what our options will be???

Phone Uniworld and ask if there will be a concert. They have the concerts in different places, so you cannot predict exactly where it will be.

We were on the Rhone on All Saints' Day and Arles was almost entirely closed.

For a holiday, their regular orchestra at the Hofburg Palace may not be performing, but rest assured they will find a nice concert somewhere. The only thing that would be better than that is if you can go to a performance at the Vienna State Opera or see the Vienna Philharmonic, which is like getting tickets to the Superbowl! We took the 2 PM English tour of the Opera House which I highly recommend, if you happen to be downtown during the day. Before or after the tour you can go to one of the nearby famous Viennese Cafes to top off a very enriching day!

We were in Vienna on Ascension Day and absolutely everything was closed other than restaurants and pastry shops and one or two little souvenir shops.

I would guess that All Saint's Day sees the shops closed also. Window shopping only.....
