Stores that carry "FIRE" season clothing

Hi,

I am a newly converted "spring/fire". I thought I was a "summer/air" for 30 years and I followed it religiously too!

I just got my color swatches from Curt (CJW) today in the mail :)

Can any of you experienced color people give me some ideas which stores carry a good selection of "spring/fire" clothing?

I LOVE to find bargins and need to redo my wardrobe with my new and exciting colors. Yesterday, I found some really nice and safe colors that I was sure of (coral, bright green, aqua) for super prices ($30 for $530 worth of clothing). That's my kind of shopping!

I especially hope to find the oranges, periwinkles and blues of "spring/fire".

I've also been reading "anita latte's" tutorial on Curt's color swatches and matching--great job, Ms. "latte" :)

Suggestions?

It's doubtful that any store is going to concentrate on one palette of colors, unless they were a store that totally embraces the "season thing". You just need to look every and anywhere.

I, too, am a Spring and found all kinds of Spring-colored clothes during the summer. However, now that fall is here and stores are now selling fall things, I find that most of the clothes are dark - black and brown - or earth colors. I am having a really hard time finding any Spring, bright and clear, warm colors. I like to shop at Kohl's and Stein Mart. Like Curt said, buy it the minute you find it or it may be gone.

Best of luck in your search.

I ordered some things from Penny's, Christopher & Banks and I think I'll try Coldwater Creek.

This is what I got from C&B--Am I on the right track with the colors?

I hope they look as bright in person. That is something that happened with Chico's and Coldwater. Sometimes they appear brighter online than in person. Let us know when you get them! Awesome job bargain hunting!!:)

What about these things from Coldwater Creek? Are they correct colors for Fire?

http://www.coldwatercreek.com/Products/Detail.aspx?productid=52807&ensembleid=58992 Yes, very nice!

http://www.coldwatercreek.com/Products/Detail.aspx?productid=47661&ensembleid=53732 Uhmm, not quite. The perfect brown is a warm brown the color of a milk chocolate bar, almost a rusty brown, but not muted. I know that's a tough one, but if you see it you will understand.

http://www.coldwatercreek.com/Products/Detail.aspx?productid=50913&ensembleid=57063 Nope. That is a cool blue. Try the Aquamarine. As long as it is bright in person, it would be great for FIRE!

http://www.coldwatercreek.com/Products/Detail.aspx?productid=52878&ensembleid=59020 Definitely not right for FIRE. The one called Sour Cherry is promising![ /quote]

Hope I have helped you!:D:D

Hi Terri,

thanks so much for the help! I'm not sure if it matters but the link I sent for the cardigan should have been the aquamarine NOT the cool blue.

The link for the blouse should have been for the iced mojito.

Are either of those colors better?

I'm disappointed on the brown, I thought for sure that was the correct one :(

Please continue to offer suggestions!

Ooohhh. I got the Christopher & Banks things tonight. :)

You were right the gold shirt is too muted and goldish. Everything else looks really good with the color cards I got from Curt today in the mail. I love them all also.

The necklace is really cute.

Do you have certain colors at Coldwater Creek that are good Fire colors. You mentioned in the last post about "sour cherry". I saw that in other things on their site too. Is that the clear red that we can wear?

Many thanks for your responses.

Hey Joby!

The image above is a closeup view of the Coldwater Creek skirt you linked to. Can you see that the brown has noticeable tones of purple in it? It also has an ashy gray to it. The above brown is a cool brown. Not right for FIRE...

Compare it to a closeup of another skirt on Coldwater Creek: the color shown below is called Acorn. It has a rusty orangey undertone. The skirt below is definitely warm compared to the skirt above. This is a much better choice for Fire and will complement bright warm tops much better. :) This Acorn color is pretty close to what I call Milk Chocolate Brown!! :) I've included the link to see a view of the whole skirt below.

Does this help you?

:D

I am trying to help as best I can figger it all out!!:p Even though I feel I have come a long way, I still find it tough at times!!

OK, you mentioned you like the Iced Mojito blouse. I took a look, and it is definitely warm. But, 2 of the views are confusing me. In this view of the print, the colors look warm and muted (EARTH).

K02690_779_D01.JPG

BUT in the view below, they look warm and brighter. So, this one is too tough for me to call it. :o :p If I had to make a call, I'd say it is more muted than a clear, warm FIRE. Now that I look again at the view below, I think the perfect Fire print would have a brighter golden color...... So now I am changing my tune and saying it is most likely too muted to be called the perfect Fire print.

Personally, I like it in this color, but I am committed to buying only what I need, love and am *sure* is right for Fire. I am *somewhat* shocked that I have not bought anything in black in more than a year! Even shoes! LOL

OK, Terri,

I'm starting to get the feeling for the correct Fire brown now, I think.

I also see the difference in the green shirt too.

Green and brown are 2 colors I never ventured to when I "thought" and was told (for 30 years) that I was a Summer/Air.

I will be pretty strict with Fire as I was with Summer/Air. It's just a whole 'nuther ballgame now.

I'll be asking more questions--I hope you don't mind :) Thanks!

FIRE ladies (aka Spring)

I was just at Old Navy for work clients - and noticed a couple of wonderful Warm and Bright Peacoats!

Very rare, so that is why they caught my eye...

Now, it's Old navy, so it's not going to be the best, ultimate, super duper quality - but I personally think that the quality is well worth the price...

If you can find and get to an Old Navy store soon, I would check these out as rare Cold Weather Friendly FIRE items:

A nice Warm Bright Coral/Salmon

and a nice rare Warm Bright Apple Green (not 100% perfect, but so close I'd buy it for cold weather clothing if you are a FIRE/Spring woman)...

Al least check them out, and see how they "fit" on you...

Okay?

The clothing and tones are out there, you just have to be patient to find them and snatch them up when they're here!:D

I ran by Old Navy this morning and was amazed at all the spring colors. I ended up getting a cute bright orange/white striped boatneck long sleeved top for $10 and they had several different types of coats. The ones posted above are $59 but they had the same color in a fleece-type coat with buttons and a zipper on sale for $20.50 which I bought. They look almost the same. I love it. They have tons of long sleeved tops in every spring color you can imagine for $6.50.

Thanks for the heads up on Old Navy, Curt.

Here is a picture of the top.

I've been shopping for a couple of days and gotten some things that I hope are in my new Spring/Fire palette :)

This is quite a learning experience. I'm so used to my old "summer" muted pastels w/blue undertones. I LOVE my new coral colors.

It's funny--yesterday while I was shopping I had several comments on what a good color coral was on me.

I'm having a hard time choosing colors though. I feel "safe" with coral and bright green. Safe, in that I can pick them out OK. I'm having trouble with blues, browns, golds...I want variety but, am afraid to choose the wrong colors!

I need some extra visual help in my color palette--something that we all see every day like, road paint yellow, highway sign info blue. Can you help me any?

Would you take a quick peek at these and tell me if I'm on the right track? Thanks for the help from everyone, I appreciate it :)

I just took a quick look and I think you have some good hits, but a couple of misses, too.

The Old Navy tank top in Lemon Pucker appears too cool, it looks like a lemon-lime color that is too cool.:(

The C&B absinthe green is too muted to be perfect Fire. It is a great Earth color, though. I have a Lands End top in that color and it looks good on me, but again it is not perfect. I like to wear that top with a colorful scarf that has fire tones of gold-yellow in it, to punch it up a little.

The driftwood knit jeans are just not right for Fire. Sorry.:(

The JCPenney sweater: yes! Looks great. :D

And the Coldwater Creek tops: nice choices!:)

Thanks for the opinions. It looks like I'm making some progress.

I'm still having trouble deciphering the Fire color cards. If it's an almost exact match--no problems but, it's when I have to go between 2 colors that I go astray :)

I'm excited about the Penny's sweater--I also got a 3/4 sleeve shirt in that same color, so I was really hopeful that it was a true fire color. It looked like an exact match with my color cards. I also got another shirt on clearance from Von Maur in that same color.

I knew that the green absinthe top was not right but, I bought it to wear under a couple of jackets that I feel sure have fire colors in them. It's a color I can "cheat" in, correct?

Which brings me to another question--if I need/want to "cheat" in something that's not exactly a fire, do I cheat in yellow undertoned Earth colors OR bright Winter colors that are blue undertoned?

My initial thought would be to stay in the yellow undertones even if they aren't bright. Would that be a wrong assumption???

I think I'm getting OCD about this--I guess I'm trying to make up for 30 years of being in the wrong color season :) At least if I make a mistake, no one dies!

Thanks for your thoughts.

It's been a while since I've been on any of the threads about the seasonal colors. But I can definitely answer this for you. You will look better in WARMer colors, even if they aren't quite the clear, bright colors of Fire/Spring. You will look like death warmed over in cool colors, any cool colors. Just stay away, far, far away. I guess I'm stating this pretty emphatically, but I really feel strongly about my opinion! :D

When I can get my thoughts together and also my computer savvy, I'll post some pictures of my new wardrobe. I've having the most fun with it, but it's been quite a while (I want to say almost a year) since CJW informed me that I'm a FIRE. It was a struggle at first, but it's gotten much, much easier with practice. It's made a huge difference in my ability to pack as well. Mix and match is so much easier! Rather than having that "capsule wardrobe" idea where you are supposed to gather a wardrobe around some key pieces of clothing in key colors (and they always, always say black for travel), I've found that my entire wardrobe becomes available to me in a mixty/matchy fashion. Lots of fun.

The most important thing to do is to have fun with the shopping, again, my opinion. :D

Thanks for the suggestions :)

I've been on a shopping whirlwind lately. I'm a big bargin hunter and I think I've found lots.

I'm having trouble finding some of the "other" colors on my color cards--like the blue, brown, violet and golds.

I've been pretty lucky with aqua, coral and bright green but, I want some variety.

I love it when I read back in the "what season are you" thread and read where others have named certain colors at certain stores that are very good matches for "Fire".

Any other suggestions?
