Mohogany Bay Beach or West End (bananamara)

Have been to Roatan before, but it was in the 90's.Would like to ask some of you That have been there in the Last Couple of Years.

Did you enjoy Mohogany Beach Area,(Magic Chairs, renting a chair with a clam shell, Food, Drink?

Would you recommend Bananamara? I saw where the do a Pickup/Drop off,

plus Beach Chair, Welcome Drink, showers for $35.00.

Thing is The Bay Area Beach, is closer to the Ship which is a plus, but the 45 min ride to the beach is also a plus to see some of Roatan.

Any Thoughts?

By all means, get out to see the real Roatan, and not just the enclosed area of Mahogany Bay... There is great snorkeling right from the beach in West Bay...

Indeed if snorkeling is part of the plan, this thread has heaps of info about snorkeling West Bay Beach.

Couldn't agree more. Mahogany Bay is 'fine' for those who are uncomfortable being away from home or out of the United States. It absolutely serves a valuable purpose but don't confuse it for the 'real Roatan' that begins just outside the gate.

Do note that Roatan is more 3rd world than most other places we have been in the Caribbean. If that makes you uncomfortable please keep that in mind when you make your decision whether to venture out.
