Staying in Copenhagen in June

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, I've narrowed my choice to two relatively new budget hotels

in Copenhagen by the Wake Up Copenhagen chain for three nights before my cruise and wondered if someone can help me decide which location?

One is in Borgergade (near the little Mermaid) and the other is in Carsten Nieburhs Gade near the central station. They are both incredibly reasonable for Copenhagen (tiny capsule hotel rooms) at about $150 per night in June.

The Borgergade hotel is only one month old. The other one is five years old.

Here is the link:

thanks very much!

The hotel in Borgergade is located in the same area as Amalienborg, Rosenborg, Nyhavn etc.

The Little Mermaid is a little bit further away but still walkable.

The other hotel is located at a former railyard and is a part of the Tivoli Congress Center.

Its a little bit of the beaten path but bus 11A runs all the time.

Thanks for your replies Sparklebee and Danish Viking

for the Central Station location I was just a little concerned

that the reviews said there was nothing surrounding it and no

cafes or restaurants, although Tivoli is only a 15 minute walk.

On the other hand the Little Mermaid location seemed

like a real neighborhood but maybe far from the mainstream action

of Central station

actually, Tivoli is much less than a 15 minute walk, it's right across the street. we stayed right behind Central Station and found that ideal when it was time to go to the airport... just walked out of the hotel and basically right onto the train! Tivoli is extremely close to this location too. problem, as I mentioned, some seedy people hanging around the station, but once you get a block off it's not an issue.

on the front end of my trip I stayed at Hotel Opera in Kongens Nytorv area. that was an amazing location, however I paid $277 per night for a tiny room.

Danish Viking

thanks a bunch!

You have made up my mind for me. Was a little worried

no coffee shop or even a 7-11 near the Carsten location even though

it is supposed to be more "central."

The Carsten location for some reason is also slightly more expensive.

Thank you also for all your previous posts, they were extremely helpful.

I'm in Copenhagen for four days then off to a princess baltic cruise

cheers

tony

if you make it to Christiania, make absolutely sure to hit the Lagkagehuset there. this is a large bakery chain but this location in particular is amazing. they have a pastry which has a strip of cinnamon, a strip of vanilla pudding, and a strip of icing - it's to die for! another great bakery we hit was Meyers near Nyhaven and the one right across the street from it too.
