Parking with the Queens

Hello all,

Sailing this Sunday on the Dawn icon_biggrin.gif

I just found out that the person who was going to drive us to the pier may be unavailable. Do you think the parking at the pier might sell out, given the presence of the two Queens? Is there a parking lot reserved for Dawn passengers, or is it open to all? Thanks.

it'll be a madhouse! there is no parking lot except for atop the pier and im sure a lot of space will be taken by photographers, sightseers, etc. take a cab or bus if possible.

The parking lot has been blocked off on sun. for only ticket holding passengers. However.. make your life easier. Take the weekhawken/port imperial ferry. You can safely leave your car in the parking lot there for the week and it drops you off a very easy 2 block walk from the pier. The port area is going to be a zoo on Sun. It's $10 round trip and parking runs $7/day. here's a link for you

We sail from NY often. I stopped parking atop the pier a few years ago because of the traffic hassles. It is hard to describe on this board but in brief you have to travel north up 12th avenue and make a U turn a travel south past the pier to the parking ramp. You then go up the ramp, pay and the proceed to the appropriate pier or berth as they call it. Once you do that, you have to walk

all the way down the ramps because they no longer allow luggage on the escalator to the embarkation area and there is no elevator!!! Yes...welcome to NYC! I won't even describe the madness when you get off the ship. We park in various lots one streets 48 thru 50 between 10 and 12th avenues and walk. It is a lot easier because you do not have to walk down these ramps with your luggae in and out of traffic. The prices are all teh same for the pier and local lots. About $25 a day plus 18 1/4% Parking tax. Yes. This is not a typo. That is the tax. I would also take the prior posters advice. Get here the day before.

All in all, except for the pier, you will have a great cruise. We were on the Dawn last year.

All the best!
