My partner and I are booked. We live in Venice, Florida. Looking forward. . .

After seeing you on the "regular" roll call, we figured we might see you here as well. Good to know there will be other "family" on board! Perhaps there will be others...here's hoping!

You don't think we're it, do you, Hal & Rob?

Sorry I'm replying this late.

I can't imagine we'd be the only ones. I'm sure there will be more attending the FOD meetings. Not all of us are CC readers.

Looking Forward. . .Hal & Rob

You are right, guys, there will be (at least!) two more! We are David and Graham from Worcester UK

Trying to organise the "official" CC "Meet and Greet" so come along and lets get acquainted.

I see you are making headway on the CC Meet & Greet on the main roll call thread. Have you given any thought to asking for any FOD gatherings while you were at it?

A lame question, I grant you, but a valid way of pushing this thread back to the first page.

Well, guys, I see you have been on your fair share of HAL ships and I think we share the experience that it is not hard to get FOD meets on board, though, on Princess, the Cruise Director actually bought the drinks!! (Happy Daze!)

Let's put our heads together when we get on board, the CD should turn up to the CC MnG - get him/her on one side and see their attitude - either that or we agree to gatecrash the Friends of Bill W meeting every night!

Funny.

Somewhere, John discovered that Michelle Worthing (?) is the CD on this voyage. We have sailed with her before, but for the life of me, I don't recall which ('dam) ship it was on. Might have been the Oosterdam. Can't really recall how she was on scheduling FOD events.

But hey... we're on board for 14 nights... I am sure we will find SOMEplace to meet, even on our own.

We were always fond of the piano bar near the Casino on the Westerdam / Noordam - great young Canadian (Cory) on both boats! - where you will find us!!

David (and Graham):

The natives are restless over on the main roll call board. They are wondering if you have heard about a CC Meet & Greet.

I only figured I would mention it here in case you have notifications enabled from here, but not there.

Or once again to blithely move this post up the ladder in order to get better visibility for other members of the tribe who might want to touch base.

I dare say we sail three weeks from Friday. (WEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)

Believe it or not, there has been a flurry of email communication with HAL only today. I do not have a final venue on board at this time so with nothing to report I have not been on the Main Board but guess I will wander over there now and see if I can put a few minds at rest!

Looking forward to meeting up

David E (Graham is away right now on the Norwegian Jade - lucky boy!)

The reply I have been waiting for is posted on the main board!!

18 December 2008

Hello, David:

I apologize for the delay in getting back in touch with you. Seems there were a few people working on your request to have a “Meet and Greet” with Cruise Critic members. You’ve been on our radar! I’ll be happy to work with you.

From what I can tell, it appears that you are booked on the 14-day Caribbean cruise aboard the ms Maasdam, departing FLL on 09 Jan, correct? If you could give me a sense of how many other Cruise Critic members are sailing with you, it will help in setting up a meeting space for 10 Jan, mid-morning gathering. We’ll be sure to have refreshments and food (let me know if you are thinking of croissants and Danish or something else) and we’ll make that happen. We can also serve coffee, juices and Mimosas if you’d like.

Since your Meet and Greet happens 10 Jan (while at sea), we possibly could get something in the Daily Program that is delivered each night. Also, once you know the members who will be sailing with you, we could ask the on-board print shop to deliver a special invitation to each member’s cabin. In short, there are a variety of ways to assist you to get the word out on the ship. Have you communicated with any of the Cruise Critics Members thus far about a get-together? If not, you could tell them to reserve the mid-morning of 10 Jan for a special Meet and Greet and that once you have the details finalized you’ll be back in touch.

Once I hear back from you, I’ll get the next steps in place.

Wishing you smooth sailing in all your endeavors today, David.

I look forward to working with you.

Sounds like another FoD! - Mimosas anyone!!!

You might get a laugh from the main board with everyone being prim and proper about telling HAL how where and when to give them free drinks!

I think I will hold the meeting in our cabin if it goes on like this - FoDs ONLY of course!!

Let us know how the CD is about the FOD get togethers!

We're going on the Ryndam 10 day March 05, and so far haven't had any nibbles on our GLBT roll call. <SIGH>

I'm sure they're out there somewhere, just maybe not on Cruise Critic, and may have to wait for the first FOD to see.

Enjoy the Maasdam and have a great cruise!
