Just wondering what everyone thought about specific companies for cruises. We are both 35-40. We both like parties and dancing, not too thrilled about sitting around and watching the boat move or boring stuff(to us). Thanks

You really haven't given enough information about your tastes, likes and dislikes. Do you want to use an inline skating track, climb rock climbing walls?

Do you prefer dressy dinners with excellent food or prefer dressing down and good but rather mediocre grub? Sophisticated, refined decor or the Mall of America of the Seas? PA announcements hawking bingo, pool games and the like, or solitude? Does the itenerary matter? Lots of kids or more adult like?

sorry . We enjoy partying, drinking, dancing, eating, did I say partying. Not to thrilled about solitude or bingo or anything else that does not include a frosty beverage or some food line.

Drinking and partying...................... then Carnival is right up your alley.

Not too thrilled about sitting around watching the boat move?!

LOL! That's just TOO funny.. Was this an experience from a previous cruise?

I just can't help but ask!

I can't think of one place other than HAL where you 'sit and watch the boat move' as not too much else on HAL does! But that's coming from someone who is not HAL sail age. I am sure to them, they're just speeding along!

They're correct, Carnival is known for it's lively vegas style drinking partying crowd. But so are the short RCC cruises, like to the Bahamas and stuff like that. Try one of the nicer larger Carnival ships. You should be able to get variety plus partying there.

i thought there were plenty of people having a good time on our last adventure of the seas cruise- the bars were pretty full, the disco was swinging- the casino was okay-but everyone was having fun everywhere- the party is what you make it- carnival is a party ship too though- all that we have been on anyway- good luck and have a great time whichever you choose

We sail Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Carnival and like all of them. These are my favorite things about each line. Each line has a mix of age groups, but Carnival definetely attracts people under 40 on their caribbean cruises. The Mexican Riviera during the winter months and Alaska during the Spring attract the elderly. Wait until warmer weather for those destinations if you want a better mix of ages. My likes & dislikes:

Norwegian (Dawn)our favorite ship: Freestyle Dining eating where and when you want choosing from many restaurants on ship-- Italian, Mexican, French, Steak House, Chinese, Japanese, American, English Pub, BBQ, Buffets, NY Deli, etc. (Loved the rice and lomein in Blue Lagoon.)

Great Band in Main Lounge Every Night w/smoking & non-smoking sections.

(60's-present) Variety of music each night was fun for every age group.

Movie Cinema was very popular. Most ships don't have one.

Casino was larger than most ships and had a hallway for those who didn't want to go through casino to Theater each night.

2 for 1 DRINKS AFTER 11PM. Buy a 12 pack and pay for a 6pack. Our refrig. was full. Other cruiselines only offer a drink of the day.

Royal Caribbean: Beautifully deocrated ships. Excellent Entertainment.

Lots of athletic activities: miniature golf, rock climbing wall, etc. Looking forward to upcoming cruise in October on newer Jewel of the Seas because they will offer a couple more dining options than our last RCL cruise. Negative: I get sick of eating in the same dining room with the same waiter and same guests on a 10 day cruise. Royal Caribbean definetely needs to add more restaurants for those guests who get bored with the one dining room and only have the buffet as an option.

Carnival: Definetely caters to younger people than older people. Best pizzeria w/caesar salad and ice cream 24 hours. Casino on our next Carnival (Triump) cruise is reportedly one of the largest casinos on ships.

Carnival's Entertainment is usally rated #1 by the Travel Channel on their review of cruiselines. Our last Carnival cruise had Kareoke every night from 10-midnight. We missed that on our last Royal Caribbean cruise. They only had it once or twice.

Compare prices, ports of call, #sea days, and restaurant options. Try a different line each year and see which you like best.

We are in our mid- to late-30s and are taking an RCI cruise in August. I think that in addition to the cruise line, it'll also depend on where the cruise is going. Carnival is known more to the "party" atmosphere, but I'm also a firm believer that fun is what you make of it...we also usually take cruises where there are a lot of ports so you're never bored...not necessarily the most relaxing vacations, but definitely some of the most adventurous!!!

I have a good handle on it. I am convinced that Voyager class is the right fit for me, but since I have not cruised on some of the other companies lines I wanted to make sure I was not missing something.

Consider a ship with a good gym.

Consider a ship with a good gym.

lol been on 4 cruises on my way to number 5 and will never set foot in the gym.

I actually would like to hide by the exit doors of the gyms and hit everyone that comes out of it with a stick.

I think it can vary. We are 40s DINKS and like to play too but we have found a fun group on Celebrity. It is a quieter more refined atmosphere but not stuffy. Rhapsody is looser and a shipload of Texans can always find a party! Wild times Carnival is probably your choice but for a lot of fun without drunken 21 year olds, RCCL and Celebrity can offer a lot of fun.

Why are you asking this question on the Royal Caribbean Board? You would probably get more information if you posted on the Question Board.

I asked this question on this board for a very specific reason, because my personal favorate is voyager class ships and I was wanting to get an opinion from people who liked rccl cruises also. (similar situations)

Thanks for the advise though!!
