Back from the Triumph; it's true! Come and read our mini review!

Read on everyone and I'll tell you some news! I'll tell you the tale of our family's Carnival cruise!

With 10 bags in the van, the fit was quite tight. But we made it to the airport, in time for our flight.

Went through the terminal and onto the Jet. If we didn't get there soon, we’d go crazy I bet.

Now once in Miami, I said to the family. "I’m not a fool, our hotel has a pool".

So for the rest of the day we had so much fun. Did not go to bed until we lost sight of the sun.

The next day, the shuttle to the ship was short. (Thankfully our hotel was quite close to the port.)

Gave all of our bags to a man called the porter, and made sure to flip that porter a quarter.

Went into the terminal and saw a short line. We knew we’d be on board in almost no time.

We looked out the window and what did we see? We saw a huge ship, as big as can be.

We saw the word "TRIUMPH" written on its side. This was going to be one awesome ride.

We heard our number and lined up in twos. To board the ship for our Carnival cruise.

Then off we went to find our room, while all of us singing an island tune.

We dropped off our bags, our cabin was quite nice. We tipped the steward to bring us some ice.

With our Sign and Sail cards in our hand, off to the Lido deck to check out the band.

We saw a waiter and shouted out "Hey! Quickly bring us a Drink of the Day!"

One drink, two drinks, three drinks, four. Any more and we’d be on the floor.

A little unsteady on our feet. We knew it was time to get something to eat.

Went to the South Beach Club and didn’t have to wait. Ate our food, and wow was it great!

After our lunch I will give you this tip. Make sure you leave time to explore the ship.

Took me no time to find my way around it. My wife is still looking a little dumbfounded.

"Where are the shops?" she would say, wanting to give our money away.

Then it was time to go through the motion, with bells and whistles and all the commotion.

The kids thought it was quite a thrill. Wearing lifejackets for the muster drill.

When it was finally over, it did take a while. The ship was now ready to go the first mile.

Up to the deck to hear the horn blow. With drink in one hand the ship started to go.

We stood on that deck, sipping our wine, until the land gently faded with time.

After an exciting first day we knew it was time. It was time to get ready, it was time to dine.

After getting dressed and looking our best, not to say the least, we were ready to feast.

We found our table, met our wait staff, from the beginning, they made us all laugh.

We looked over the menu, it did look great, from the look on our faces, we could hardly wait.

At 6'6" I am quite tall, so I told the waiter "just bring it all". Then course after course, we ate like a horse.

When dinner was done, it was time for some fun. We knew on this cruise, we had nothing to lose.

Now I know this is long and y’all have rights. So I’ll give you some of the remaining highlights.

On the formal nights when all dressed so fine, the showroom entertainment was just divine.

On other nights I said to my Honey, those show room comedians are quite funny.

For us the Casino bells were quiet. Lost more money there than weight on a diet.

We put the kids in Camp Carnival; boy were we smart. We’d pick them up, with arms overflowing with art.

The kids while in camp had quite a blast, they just wanted it to last and last.

When not in camp the kids kept us trim, going here and there and finally for a swim.

It was so hot out there, we all wore shorts, when we went out to explore the different ports.

In Cozumel our drinks were easy to reach, while soaking up all of the sun on a beach.

In Grand Cayman after the weather turned sunny, my wife was again in the shops, spending our money.

In Jamacia we were all trying to keep cool, while playing in Margaritaville's pool.

So now you have it, you know the news, you know the tale of our family's Carnival cruise.

I want to thank you; my time is done, got to go, got to run.

In a couple of more days I will be back, I will put together a real review once I unpack.

Your review with the photos is fabulous! Your children are adorable and looks like everyone had a great time. I am surprised about Cayman that so many hotels are still closed but am sure the island wants their cruise ship passengers back! I know when we sailed on the Triumph in March 2003, there were 6 other ships in port that day. It was too many and you really couldn't even shop in town because it was so crowded. When we got off the tender to try to find our tour, it was almost impossible. The new dock in Cozumel is beautiful and when we were there, some of the landscaping was not completed so am sure it's really nice by now. We too, hung out at Margaritaville and Island Village while in Jamaica. We went to the shops early and almost had the place to ourselves. It is so clean and new. Plus, no haggling or aggressive sales people! Walk a few feet down the road to the Taj Mahal shopping center and it's a different world! Some people like that but not us. We felt very safe at Island Village but can't say the same for the other shopping areas. Did you notice the movie theater at Island Village? I thought it was strange they didn't show a movie during the day while cruise ship passengers where there. We asked and the movie was only shown at night. Obviously, they feel that there are enough locals/tourists that will come in the evening but would have gone to the movie if if had have been early in the day. Margaritaville food was okay but pretty pricey but the atmosphere was a lot of fun. We too, experienced it being very busy later in the day especially after Peat Taylor tours, etc. Also, everyone including us were dragging in getting back to the ship...stayed until the last possible time since it's only a few steps away to the ship.

Thank you so much for your review. We'll be on the Triumph in March and for the first time, with kids ~ granddaughters aged 7 and 10. As it stands right now, the younger one wants no part of Camp Carnival but she has promised to at least attend the first day orientation. After that, we'll see.
