Guatemala ruins from Puerto Chiapas?

Out cruise ship, the Norwegian Pearl, docks at Puerto Chiapas, Mexico on April 21, 2012. It looks to be right on or near the Guatemalan boarder. Does anyone know if it is possible to visit any of the Mayan ruins in Guatemala from this port? I have read of a small ruin called Takalik Abaj near Retalhuleu. Anyone know anything about this place? Any tour operators in this area? Or, is it just too much of a hassle to cross the border, etc? Thanks
