Shut Out on the Free Cruise? How do you feel?

I was reading several threads about the free cruise offer a number of Carnival Cruisers, but not all, received. To be honest, I really didn't have much of an opinion (Good for Them!, Not Fair, Why not me? etc.) UNTIL I got an email from a good friend today. She got one of the offers and is now booked to go in June as soon as school lets out (She's a teacher). The funny thing is I was the one that introduced her to cruising in 2011. Her first cruise, my first time on Carnival. Since that date she has sailed twice with Carnival with her husband, and I have sailed 3 times with mine. Neither one of us spends any money in the casino, and I know my on-board bill is always much higher than hers.

Anyway, happy for her, but now that someone I know got the offer and I didn't I have to admit that I am just a little bit annoyed with Carnival. Doesn't mean I will never sail with them again-Guess I'm just not feeling the love.

I am slightly peeved:rolleyes:

I feel like I fall into the demographics, as many others..

Only three cruises on Carnival...

1st in 1996

2nd in 2012

3rd in 2013

Going to be gold on our next one, which will be this spring, but it would have been NICE to get the freebie. Drop about $100 in the casino each cruise. However, we DO run up quite the bar bill during an 8 night cruise.:eek::eek:

Approximately $800 for 8 nights, which includes the Bottomless Bubbles for DD. We're going to look into Cheers this time:D

Anyway, I am MAD. lol Can you tell? I want the free cruise.

Your'e not alone on this one....I've been reading too, of the lucky folks that have been getting the free cruise which appear to have not sailed as many times as I...

Oh well, guess I just don't meet the demographic they are looking for.

Still leaves me feeling not as important though. :p

It's like the lottery. I feel good for "them", yet at the same time would not feel bad for me.

I've been reading some of the "free cruise" threads. Though I have not received one of the letters/offers and I would love to, I am glad for the people who get them and hope they enjoy them. As a stock-holder, I hope these people come back and purchase a cruise the next time which will help with the stock. Plus, as a stock-holder, I do get OBC for each cruise plus a stock dividend.

Fortunately, my wife and I can afford to cruise once a year and am happy about that. So yes, I would love a free cruise, but for less than 2K for a cruise, I am not complaining and do enjoy them and happy I can afford to do this.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty bummed! What is even more annoying is that some who got the free cruise a few months ago are receiving them again. And multiple people in one household is kind of irritating! Maybe we'll be the lucky ones next time?:confused:

First world problems. Remind yourself how fortunate you are to have the good fortune to pay for a cruise when a large portion of the world is wondering how they'll pay for basic sustenance each and every day.

I was feeling left out that we didn't get one, but you are completely right about first world problems. I hope the offers go to people who wouldn't be able to cruise without them.

Well...Waaaaaaaah!

I've been booking comfortable Carnival insides

in the distant hope I'll get bumped up to a glorified chain-locker somewhere

but "my ship just won't come in" dammit!

I'm so ticked off I think I'll book Cunard instead and expect nothing.

I wouldn't say that I'm really mad. I would say that I am a little irritated since I just decided to book (and just paid in full 2 weeks ago) another Carnival cruise with my hard earned money, even after a not so stellar experience in July on the Fascination.

Also, we have been back and forth between Carnival and NCL. While I am aware that Carnival could care less, not getting a free cruise while so many others do, in addition to the fact that NCL offers kids sail free, just might sway me further in the direction of NCL again.

People are so unbelievably jealous. I've been on 15 Carnival Cruises and for most of those I paid for a friend or family member to accompany me! I also drop a few hundred bucks in the casino on every cruise because I'm a poor gambler. But while I appreciate those platinum perks I by no means expect the cruise line to be giving me my cruises free. It was entirely my choice to go on those cruises and entirely my choice to spend money in the casino. Carnival owes me nothing except a fun time on my next cruise!

Ah yes.. but you and I are realistic

whereas others are entitled to free stuff, even on a cut-rate budget cruise line

where they don't even want to pay the fuel surcharge!

I wonder if they will give out any more , or if the promotion had ended ?.

My niece got one , and since she is under 21 she has to have someone else go with her. I offered , but my sister in law said they are probably just not going to use it

Too bad they aren't transferable !

I hope carnival gives out more

Amen! Especially the ones that think Carnival owes them something. I'm happy for the people that got it, but in no way feel slighted. Even if I had a hundred Carnival cruises under my belt I wouldn't feel slighted. Carnival can't even do something nice without people bashing them or questioning their motives.

They probably picked people at random for the free cruises. Some of the green eyed monsters here need to look up the word random in the dictionary, then build a bridge and get over it.

But no such luck..

been cruising since 2002. I have 23 cruises, usually book 2 to 3 a year.. Have had S&S bills in the thousands to less than a hundred.

I was more hopeful one of my kids would get one..

Daughter is 25 has 10 cruises but hasn't cruised in 5 years.. I made sure she got that 10th cruise to make platinum..thats how long ago those "change talks" started.

Son is 19 with 17 cruises:eek:..Last cruised in Dec. He and I cruise together.

Thought my daughter would be a candidate but nope.

Im disappointed. Ive paid for 50 cruises.. throw me a bone LOL!
