Breakaway Diverted!

You forgot one:

C) This is no one's fault and I since am responsible for my own research, the next time I decide to cruise during hurricane season, I will also research where I may end up if the scheduled ports are not available.

Actually I did not forget one. I know full well the chances I take when cruising this time of year; almost everyone of my cruises was taken in August. You could end up anywhere from Canada to the Caribbean, so exactly how many ports am I supposed to research?

Also I was keeping an eye on the weather and late Sunday night it still did not look like it was going to affect this sailing outside of a possible rainy Wednesday.

At the end of the day Celebrity gave something when they did not have to and Norwegian gave nothing. It is making me think twice about sailing with them again.

Next time book a fly stay vacation. If you cant go atleast you get your money back.

Bermuda is not that great anyway

And, of course they aren't overnighting in Nassau, silly! That would mean a closed casino! ;)

I was on the summit that was diverted. The casino opened at 7pm while we were still in port. The summit left Nassau at 10.

I took the Behind the Scenes tour on the Breakaway during the diversion. The bridge officers indicated that this was the first time they had to be diverted due to bad weather. This confirmed my pre-cruise research for this cruise. Had the chances been higher, I may have chosen another date.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the 21st sailing. Boyfriend and I are set for Bermuda and I think it would break his heart if we pulled out of NYC and they came on and said we were bound for Florida and the Bahamas. The Bahamas he'd eventually get over, but Florida is possibly his least favorite place on earth. He hates humidity, Floridians (according to him they're all retired New Yorkers who don't know how to drive, I just tell him the Panhandle part of Florida is fine), and the bugs.

I'd be torn between Harry Potter World and the Kennedy Space Center for that day. The Space Center might at least cheer him up, though.

Now, if something were to happen that diverted us to Canada? I'd freeze my rear end off outside in skirts and sandals because I'd be spending so much time taking photographs of everything.

Regardless, a cruise is a cruise is a cruise in my mind and it still means I'm not at work that week. My preference is strongly for Bermuda, though. I even bought a guidebook! I never buy guidebooks for anywhere I go and I travel any chance I get.

I think you better take a look at your geography books - not all of "Canada" is the frozen tundra. Today we had a temperature of 27c or in the mid to high 80s today with temps even higher in the next few days. So in the very unlikely incident that you were diverted to Canada you will be perfectly fine in your skirts and sandals.

I'm well aware of all of this. I am also cold at about 70F.

My boyfriend and I actually discussed the possibility of taking a cruise up that way. We both think it would be gorgeous and fun. I just also get cold before most people. It's problematic in the winter.

Not surprised you'd get sunburned. Anywhere the sun can shine or bounce off clouds a person can get burned.
