Walking in Key West

We have never been to Key West let alone in July and don't mind the heat too much.

We are both mobile but is more enjoyable in July to take the Trolley around or walk the island.

JMHO, but both - spend an hour and a half on the trolley and get a tour of the island while learning some interesting facts, make note of what interests you and then walk around. Duval is only a mile or so long.......

What's everyone's thoughts on renting bikes? We will only be there for a short time so we figured we would rent bikes and check out all the 'landmarks' like mile marker 0, southernmost point, etc. We're both young and in fairly good shape

If you are young and in good shape, I would walk. Everything of interest is within a square mile and walking let's you see the most. You can rent bikes if you prefer, but our streets in Old Town get very busy and you may end up paying attention to all the cars, trollies and scooters if you are on bikes, rather than the sites around you.
